Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar has approved the appointment of former Justice Amitabh Kumar Gupta as the Lokayukta for Jharkhand. Justice Gupta, a retired Jharkhand High Court judge, will now assume the responsibilities of the Lokayukta.

The Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench ruled that legal heirs can claim medical expense reimbursement for deceased or incapacitated government employees and pensioners.
