NEW DELHI: An international-level pistol shooter, who has won multiple World Championship and World Cup medals, has filed an FIR alleging rape, blackmail and harassment against her mental trainer and motivational speaker in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, police said.
The complaint was registered at a women’s police station in Jhajjar on May 20. The accused, who is associated with a religious sect as a registered priest, had earlier lodged a separate FIR alleging kidnapping, wrongful confinement and unnatural sexual assault by the shooter’s family members and other accomplices.
Confirming the registration of both FIRs, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bahadurgarh, Mayank Mishra said the matter was being investigated from all possible angles.
“Yes, we have received two police complaints and FIRs have been lodged in both cases. In one case, the girl complainant has alleged rape, blackmailing and mental harassment. The other FIR lodged by the accused at the Asaudha police station alleged kidnapping, wrongful confinement, acts of unnatural sex and some monetary dispute against the girl complainant’s family and other accused. The matter is under investigation, and the police is probing the two cases from all possible angles,” Mishra told TOI.
According to police sources, the accused is a married man from Birohar village in Jhajjar district. He is a PhD holder, a certified ethical hacker and a former shooter who now works as a mental trainer and motivational speaker while serving as a priest associated with a sect.
Police sources said the shooter and her family had been attending his motivational sessions for nearly a year and were considered his followers.
Officials said the first FIR was lodged by the accused at the Asaudha police station on the evening of May 20. In his complaint, he alleged that he was abducted on April 29 by several individuals, kept in confinement for nearly 20 days, subjected to unnatural sexual acts and robbed of his belongings before being abandoned near a toll plaza close to Asaudha on May 17.
“Around an hour after this complaint, a counter FIR was filed by the girl complainant at the women’s police station in Jhajjar alleging rape after being drugged, blackmail through inappropriate videos and photographs, extortion and mental trauma. The FIR named a single person,” a police source said.
Police sources added that preliminary investigation has also revealed a possible monetary dispute between the two parties. While the accused claimed he had lent money to the shooter’s father for a land deal that did not materialise, the complainant’s family alleged they had paid the accused for mental training services and later demanded the money back after being dissatisfied with the results.
The accused is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bahadurgarh under police protection. TOI tried to contact the shooter for her response through phone calls and WhatsApp, but couldn’t reach her.
