Heated moment! Nahid Rana angers Josh Inglis with fiery send-off during BAN vs AUS 1st ODI - Watch
Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana produced a match-winning spell and briefly ignited tempers as the hosts stunned Australia by 86 runs via the DLS method in the opening ODI of the three-match series.
The fiery fast bowler was at the centre of attention during Australia's chase when he dismissed stand-in captain Josh Inglis and became involved in a heated exchange. The incident occurred on the first ball of the 11th over when Rana extracted extra bounce from a back-of-a-length delivery, forcing Inglis into an edge that was comfortably taken behind the stumps.
As Rana celebrated the wicket passionately, Inglis appeared unhappy and exchanged words with the young pacer. The confrontation lasted only a few moments before Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz stepped in to calm the situation and guide the Australian skipper off the field.
Watch:
The dismissal left Australia struggling at 51/3 and proved to be a turning point in the contest.
Rana continued to dominate the innings, removing Alex Carey for 47, Liam Scott for 2 and Xavier Bartlett for 1 to finish with outstanding figures of 4/41. His pace and aggression troubled Australia's batting lineup throughout the chase as the visitors slipped well behind the required rate.
Earlier, Bangladesh posted a competitive 284/8 after recovering from an early setback. Openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Najmul Hossain Shanto laid the foundation with a 96-run partnership. Tanzid scored a brisk 54 from 44 balls, while Shanto contributed 67.
The star with the bat, however, was Mosaddek Hossain. Making a strong statement on his return to the international side, the all-rounder smashed an unbeaten 86 off just 70 deliveries, striking seven fours and three sixes to lift Bangladesh to a challenging total.
Australia's chase never truly gathered momentum despite resistance from Cameron Green, who remained unbeaten on 52, and Alex Carey. Mustafizur Rahman claimed two wickets, while Mosaddek backed up his batting heroics with an economical spell.
The victory was particularly significant for Bangladesh, marking their first ODI win over Australia since 2005 and giving them a 1-0 lead in the series ahead of the second match on June 11.
