5 national parks in the USA perfect for wildlife lovers and the best time to visit them

For many wildlife travellers, America is a dream destination. The country is brimming with some incredible national parks which are globally famous. It’s not just the landscape but the chance to witness rare, wild animals in their natural habitats which is interesting. From bears to alligators, the United States is home to some of the world's most remarkable wildlife-viewing places. The country is home to over 60 national parks; so you are spoiled for choice. However, there are some parks that stand out for their animals, accessibility, and beauty.

Here are five U.S. national parks that every wildlife lover should visit once in their lifetime.

2/6

Yellowstone National Park

The park is mostly in Wyoming, but spreads into parts of Montana and Idaho too. Calling Yellowstone America's Wildlife Capital won’t be incorrect. The park is synonymous with wildlife watching and often referred to as "America's Serengeti." The park boasts one of the highest concentrations of large mammals in North America and spotting wild species including bison, elk, wolves, grizzly bears, black bears and antelope, among others is quite normal here. Lamar Valley and Hayden Valley are two popular spots for watching animals.

3/6

Denali National Park and Preserve

Denali National Park and Preserve is also known as the Land of the Big Five. Spanning six million acres, the park is famous for its "Big Five" species, which are moose, caribou, grizzly bears, Dall sheep, and wolves. These can be spotted from distances. Chances of spotting wildlife here is much better. Summer is the best time as one can spot bears foraging on hillsides, caribou crossing the tundra, and Dall sheep walking on mountain slopes.

4/6

Everglades National Park A Subtropical Wildlife Wonderland

Wildlife watching in the Everglades offers an experience unlike any other in the United States. Spanning 1.5 million acres of wetlands, mangrove forests, and slow-flowing waterways, the landscape supports an extraordinary variety of reptiles, birds, and aquatic life. Among its most iconic inhabitants are the American alligator and the American crocodile. The Everglades is one of the few places in the world where these two species can be found living side by side.

5/6

Grand Teton National Park

Now this park is a photographer's dream! But it often gets overshadowed by its famous neighbour, Yellowstone. It is one of America's finest animal-viewing destinations. The park's river corridors, forests, and open meadows support moose, elk, grizzly bears, black bears, coyotes, bald eagles, and trumpeter swans.

6/6

Katmai National Park and Preserve

For sheer wildlife spectacle, few places can rival Katmai. The is an ultimate bear encounter destination in southern Alaska. The park is renowned for its population of enormous brown bears. It’s interesting to see dozens of bears at Brooks Falls to catch fish leaping upstream. Katmai offers visitors a rare opportunity to observe bears behaving naturally in a completely wild environment.
