Monsoon Magic 5 safe destinations in India to enjoy rains

Monsoon has hit some parts of India early this year and how! While several places in Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Goa have been marked unsafe for travel, including Mumbai and Bengaluru for some days, there are still some destinations which are perfect for people who want to enjoy the magic of monsoon.
These places are all about rhythmic raindrops, earthy fragrance and transforms into one green canvas. If you are someone wanting to explore nature’s refreshed beauty while maintaining safety during this season, here are five monsoon destinations you can plan a trip to.

2/5

Munnar, Kerala

Munnar, one of the most stunning monsoon destinations in the Western Ghats of Kerala, gets all misty during the rainy season. The rain-washed tea plantations shine in shades of emerald, and waterfalls like Attukal and Lakkam are at their roaring best. Despite the rainfall, Munnar’s roads remain well-maintained, and the region is relatively safe from landslides compared to higher Himalayan terrains.
Travel Tip: Carry waterproof shoes and a light rain jacket.

3/5

Coorg, Karnataka

Coorg, renowned for its coffee estates, thick forests, and cool climate, is a serene monsoon escape. The region receives moderate to heavy rainfall, making it perfect for those who love pleasant weather. Trekking trails like Tadiandamol and waterfalls like Abbey Falls look more vibrant during this time.
Travel tip: Avoid isolated forest treks in heavy rain.

4/5

Lonavala-Khandala, Maharashtra

Lonavala-Khandala turns into a green canvas when it rains. The place is a favorite weekend getaway for Mumbaikars as these twin hill stations come alive with green slopes, cloud-covered peaks, and waterfalls at every turn. Well-connected by road and rail, these towns are among the safest and most accessible destinations during the rains.
Travel tip: Visit the famous Bhushi Dam and Tiger’s Leap.

5/5

Udaipur, Rajasthan

If you are someone who enjoys romancing in the rain, Udiapur is for you! While Rajasthan is known for its deserts, Udaipur turns magical during the monsoon. The ‘City of Lakes’ enjoys moderate rain and enjoys pleasant weather during this time. The monsoon season also brings fewer tourists, making it perfect for a quiet getaway.
Travel tip: Take a boat ride on Lake Pichola, explore the City Palace.
