Monsoon lingerie shopping guide for 2022

Rainy days have their distinct charm. Romantic walks on freshly drizzled streets and cool breezes make it the most enjoyable season! But then, there are also insects and puddles and worst of all, sticky wet clothes.

Although the monsoons are always a welcome relief after the hot summer months, you have to revamp your wardrobe to sail through the rains. While you bring out the pure cotton, umbrellas and rubber flip-flops, you must also pay close attention to what's in your lingerie drawer for the season.

Pooja Merani, chief operating officer of a lingerie brand says, “The reasons are mostly connected to ensuring proper hygiene and for not feeling too inconvenient if one gets drenched in the rain. It is important to stay cool in the monsoons because the increased humidity can lead to you feeling uncomfortable, which will only be enhanced further if you are wearing unsuitable lingerie.”

Here, Merani shares a few pointers that women should keep in mind while buying lingerie during the monsoon.

Try breathable material like cotton. Fabrics are one of the main aspects you should consider while getting new bras for monsoons. You don’t know when you’ll be drenched in a sudden downpour. Cotton is a very soft fabric and is known for its breathability, light-weight, comfort and durability. You can also pick bras of polyamide which have natural fibres that absorb moisture thus drying up quickly. Plus, it is soft and feels like skin.

Floral and monsoon go well with each other and monsoon bra trends also call for bright colours. You can stand out in vibrant hues and prints against the greys surrounding you. So opt for funky and cool prints and bright coloured lingerie which will uplift your mood.

The biggest concern while wearing a fitted top is hiding bra lines and this becomes harder if you've just walked through a cloudburst. However, seamless bras come to your rescue for they seem to magically disappear underneath your clothes leaving a smooth finish with no awkward lines or spillage regardless of the weather forecast.

Lightly-padded bras are good to have in your wardrobe during the monsoon season since they allow you to bring out your fashionable side without risking any wardrobe malfunctions should you be unfortunate enough to get caught in the rain. Besides, they look super attractive and adorable at the same time, and offer great support, too.

Bras in nude colours are ideal for venturing out while braving heavy downpours, especially in formal setups like offices. While brightly-coloured bras seem okay if they become visible in the rains, they are not ideal to be worn to workplaces. Nude bras on the other hand allow you to maintain your poise without feeling too exposed.
