6 signs that show humans carry each other's energy (and how to cleanse them)

Are you carrying energies?

Any human, no matter how ordinary or exceptional, has a soul. And this soul does not just belong to them, but also to the people they sit and group with. It is believed that every person you meet, sit with, talk to, and the likes, gets a little bit of your energy, and you take theirs. Be it a simple conversation or an intense discussion, the energy transfer goes on in the simplest and most complicated of times. And while this subtle energy transfer might feel harmless, in the long run, it can really start to bear you down.
And so, if you feel you are carrying someone else’s energy, here are some signs to identify it and cleanse yourself.

2/8

Excessive mood swings

If you are someone who likes to think of themselves as rather calm and composed souls, but the past couple weeks and months have been a rollercoaster of emotions, this might be a sign.
Suppose you are happy one moment, joyfully listening to your favourite song, and then the next you feel a wave of sadness pass through your body, and just like that, the happiness and love have all gone.
This might be a sign that you are absorbing somebody else’s emotions, maybe a friend who has been sad the past couple of weeks or a colleague who has been irritable about something or the other. And so, just pause and ask yourself, ‘Do I have something to be sad about right now?’. If the answer comes forth as a No, this might be someone else’s energy.

3/8

An immediate ill feeling after meeting someone

Sometimes after meeting someone, you start feeling heavy, foggy, or even physically sick, and there is no logical explanation to it. You haven’t eaten outside, you did not discuss anything disturbing, and neither did you do anything that requires physical effort.
And yet, all of a sudden, it feels like you are down in the dumps, with a headache, some problem in your stomach, and just a strange ‘off feeling’. If this has been happening often, and with the same person, it might be a sign that you are absorbing their disturbed energies.

4/8

A natural prediction of emotions and feelings

If you often ‘just know’ when someone is upset, even before they say anything, or you feel their pain when talking to them, almost as if it is your own, this might be a sign that you are absorbing their energy. And while this isn’t negative all the time, as you can actually help people through this feeling, sometimes, it is just way too overwhelming.
So if talking to a person about their feelings and thoughts make you experience the exact same ones, even in the slightest form, this might be a sign that you are absorbing their energy.

5/8

A wave of exhaustion

There are people who make you feel super energetic and active, there are others who make you feel like time just does not pass by, and there are some others who just exhaust you, physically and mentally. One meeting with this person, and you feel lethargic, done with life, and just sad in general, not wanting to do anything more.
And in times like these, you feel like that person transferred some of their sadness to you. And in reality, there has been an energy exchange with that person.

6/8

Change of behaviour

Every person has different friend groups and different ways in which they interact with them. With some people you are jolly and chatty, with some others you are composed and hold back, and with some others you have a cold distance. And while it is natural to adjust slightly, if your personality shifts completely around some people, it could be a sign that you are absorbing the dominant energy of the group.

7/8

You hate being in crowds

If you are a person who picks up others’ energies easily, you will hate being in a crowded place. And this is not because you don’t like the sounds, the touching, the feeling of being jammed, or something like that, but it is just an overwhelming feeling that you cannot explain. If in a crowd, every person you see makes you feel in a different way, it might be because you are taking in a part of their energy.
And the overflow of energy in crowded spaces could be really triggering for some people.

8/8

How to cleanse it?

If the feelings of overwhelm, guilt, sadness, and the likes are not your own, and you can remember talking to someone who was feeling one of these, it might be time to do an energy cleanse.
If you feel you are holding onto others’ energies, the simplest thing to do is to take a saltwater bath or rub a salt block all over your body. Why? Because salt has natural cleansing properties, rubbing some on yourself is believed to relieve you of excess energy.
Another cleansing activity will be sound healing and meditation. If you feel dejected or overwhelmed, just for a few minutes, sit with yourself and breathe in and out. Or, chant simple mantras like OM, the Hanuman Chalisa, or any other stotra that you like.
