Why Ray in "Eternally Confused and Eager for Love" is every one of us

Why Ray is so relatable?

The new Netflix show, "Eternally Confused and Eager for Love" has taken viewers by surprise. The satirical take on modern dating and love has found a relatable spot within each of us. Ray, the protagonist is eager to find love but he seems to always fail to do so. While looking for potential partners both on and off the ground, he is constantly accompanied by his ‘Wiz’ who keeps talking to Ray subconsciously. The series is an honest take on how people find it hard to get to love, despite the setups by friends, family in parties and intimate dinners. Let’s see why Ray is practically every one of us!

2/5

Confidence issues

Ray suffers from an undisputed low-self esteem and confidence. He constantly questions himself and wonders why anybody would want to ever go out on a date with him. His self-conscience pricks him so much that he even stands up a girl on a date just because he thinks the girl is ‘crazy’ to go on a date with him!

3/5

Close friends’ circle

Ray has only two friends, one his high school friend whom he turns up to, for all of his life problems and the other is his colleague who gives Ray the best possible dating advice. Ray’s friends' circle reminds us that we tend to rely on our closest friends, rather than enjoying time partying with a whole bunch of people.

4/5

Balancing sexual frustration with dating

Ray is in his 20s and is sexually frustrated. Moreover, he is a virgin which he is very much embarrassed about. And so, he’s on a quest to lose his virginity, while dating a nice girl as well. However, it goes all wrong when he always gets on the wrong track.

5/5

Unsure of oneself

Aren’t we all a bit unsure of ourselves? Ray questions it when someone shows interest in him and Wiz’s voice in the back of his head, adds to the self-doubt and uncertainty, with a hilarious hint of sarcasm and humour.
