She just wanted gifts

“My wife, I realised, lacks certain aspects which I look for in my wife. I remember before our wedding, we went reception shopping. She chose a garment and I very happily obliged to buy it for her. I went to the cash counter to pay and was stunned to hear the price. The sari was a whopping 45k. I smiled and bought it for her. She has worn it only twice to date. Most of her sarees are so pricey that I sometimes just look at them to feel proud to know I am established enough to afford them. I feel happy. But somewhere deep inside I felt very lonely that day when I just saw her demanding face but never a happy expression when she received it. It was as if my duty to buy her things which, genuinely speaking, are a little hard for me to afford. I felt distant that day. I to date have given her everything she wanted but I have received nothing. We were married. On our honeymoon, she told me she preferred a dog more than me as I ruined her life by marrying her and not letting her build a career. Then it became regular and I met a junior at a party. It was all downhill from there…

She hid her relationship before marriage

“We had an arranged marriage. After 3 weeks I found out that she had a serious past relationship. She still loved that man. Since divorce is out of question in our family, I started looking for love elsewhere. I am now in an extramarital relationship with an old friend with whom I connect. At first, I wanted to tell my wife but now I don’t care. Her reaction can be anything. Between telling my parents and create a hue and cry or just going with it. So I have kept this life a secret from her and I feel at peace.

She is too dumb for me

“It was a love marriage. We dated for 6-7 months and then took the next step. I thought she is a smart woman with whom I can discuss politics, books, and the world, but all she takes interest in is her looks! It is like I married a completely different woman! She is very dumb and lacks common sense too! So when my office opened I met this woman in another team who was brilliant! She talked sense and she was aware of my marital status. I hid nothing from her. We both started going out during breaks and now we love each other. We both are not interested in marriage and we like how things are.”

“She is too religious”

My wife is a beauty with brains but when she had a miscarriage, she started inching towards religion. She found her solace there and forgot that I exist. There was no sex for months, said no to our dates which she used to love so much. I even suggested therapy because the miscarriage took a toll on us both. But some relative of her’s suggested some spiritual discourse and she is hardly home now. My parents wanted to intervene when I could not handle it but she shut them down saying they are asking her not to believe in God. It took a different turn altogether. So, for my heart, I started seeing my old flame. We rekindled our relationship and I feel good now. My wife, I think knows but she never acknowledges this.

These are only few of valid reasons . Men are expected to be givers, they should not demand anything , take what is given, shouldn't cry and sex is downhill after having kids
