Golden pieces of relationship advice, according to experts

Relationships are nothing without hurdles and obstacles. Every couple faces numerous fights and arguments that eventually shape their future, whether they will separate or stay together. Many try to provide pieces of advice that may or may not help the couple. Some advices may even pose conflicts in the relationship or marriage. And so, here are some golden pieces of advice from therapists that will help you navigate through your relationship better.

2/6

Feeling happiness

It is not your partner’s responsibility to make you happy or feel confident. As an individual, you should be able to feel for yourself first, rather than depending on your partner to make you feel better. Self-love comes first and nobody should have the power to make you feel sad, happy or discouraged.

3/6

Communication isn’t one way

If you are the only one trying to communicate in a relationship, it isn’t going to work. It requires tons of patience and understanding for your partner to also communicable clearly with you. It isn’t effective communication if you’re the only one who's talking. And with this comes frustration, misunderstandings and dishonesty.

4/6

Respect

This may seem to be a very common piece of advice but this is the number one reason why couples separate. Without respect for one another, a relationship cannot go on. You and your partner are equal in every aspect and you should be able to accept and respect each other decisions regardless of whether you support them or not. Never disrespect your partner in any way.

5/6

Boundaries

It’s not really wise to involve your partner in every little thing you do. There should be some set boundaries in your relationship where you both do not indulge in each other’s actions all the time. This accounts for some ‘me time’ which is very necessary to retain quality time for your hobbies and interests. It can never be always about your partner or the relationship, but it should be about YOU.

6/6

What’s your love language?

Every couple has a special thing in their relationship that is different from all others. You and your partner will have to recognise the right love language for your relationship because it will help you both to strive for that love that no one else can. This itself can provide the comfort, support and care you both need. Whether it’s receiving gifts or going on a dinner date weekly basis, your love language should be special.
