6 things you need to know when dating an old-school romantic

A flower bouquet in hand, waiting for each other at the doorstep-ah! The 90s was undoubtedly a beautiful phase for old-school sweethearts. Without the constant disturbances of phones, people used to talk for hours in coffee shops or giggle shyly on the park benches. The current digital era has deprived today’s millennials the joy of courting one another before finally agreeing on a coffee shop date. Some people still believe in old-school love but the fact that it’s slowly vanishing amidst the new era is in fact true. But, if you are one of the lucky ones to date an old-school romantic, you’re in for a treat! We bring to you 5 things you need to know about them so that when the time comes, you’re no longer clueless.

2/7

Make efforts instead of grand gestures

Gifts, chocolates, flowers are great but if there’s not much effort to it, your partner may not be happy. For them, sharing a home-cooked Maggi bowl makes them happier than having dinner at a five-star restaurant. What they only ask is that you give your whole-hearted effort into whatever you do for them. Big details don’t matter to them, but tiny details are what makes them realise how special the bond is in between you both.

3/7

Texting is fine, but that shouldn’t be all

The current generation is hooked up on phones. Texting is the new norm and we can all agree that it is one of the most convenient ways of communication. However, old-schoolers believe that texting alone doesn’t relay one’s emotions completely. Emojis, idioms, phrases can definitely help but texting alone is not much of a big deal. Talking on the phone, hearing your voice, taking short walks can lighten up their day like no other!

4/7

Casual dating isn’t for them

Even if most of the people now prefer casual flings over serious ones, your partner will never be a part of that bandwagon. What they crave is commitment, genuineness and honesty in the relationships. It isn’t a game for them, rather all they want is to be accepted for what they like. So if you’re someone who’s looking to have a ‘no labels’ relationship, signs are that these people are not for you.

5/7

They love possibilities instead of being naive

Wanting to go for love every time doesn’t mean that they are foolish or lack experience. They probably have been hurt in the past, but they still choose love over laid-back bonds. These people focus on the good rather than thinking about what can go wrong again. They always look for the real deal and choose not to close themselves off. They aren’t afraid to love fiercely.

6/7

Immediate Netflix and chill? No thanks!

‘Netflix and chill’ may be one of the most popular thins right now, but one’s comfort zone can vary from others, especially those of old-school romantics. Sure enough, they might want to chill later but they will surely refrain from doing so anytime soon. They mostly believe that with time, comfort levels and trust changes and finally, they can be compliant to giving themselves emotionally and physically to the one they love.

7/7

Cheesiness for the win

It’s true, old-school romantics are a sucker for cheesy stuff. Whether it is reading poetry to each other or dancing to Elvis’ ‘Can’t help falling in love’ under the stars on your terrace, nothing beats such romantic, sappy stuff. However, it’s okay if you do not share the same taste as them because they can feel elated with even the smallest of things. The best part is, even the most little things like a handwritten note that says how much you love them can fly them over the moon.

Having two cards: Nice vs. Honest. In time playing the Nice Card ends up getting nasty. It will eventually only be what gets You into trouble. The Honest Card is more appreciated because You are more upfront with People. They deserve the Truth always. What You say is what You do. People see and Believe in You because there's action to what You say. Seeing is Believing. It's the only way to earn Trust these Days. There's no such thing as luck or lucky. Either You are are not Blessed.
