Healthy relationship habits

Modern dating comes with its own complexities and modern issues. This often leaves one questioning if their relationship is good for them or if should they call it quits. From having one's space in a relationship to not resolving every argument, here we list down some healthy relationship habits that are often thought to be toxic. Read on to know more.

2/6

Leaving some arguments unresolved

Sometimes, agreeing to disagree with your partner to keep peace in your relationship is important too. Remember, both individuals in a relationship should have their say in it. Expecting total agreement in any relationship is quite impractical. Also, engaging in resolving conflicts most of the time can make the relationship more troublesome and disturbing. Instead, listening to your partner's concerns, open communication, and understanding are key for any relationship to thrive.

3/6

Being willing to be honest and hurt each other's feelings

A relationship is about finding a balance between honesty and kindness. Being upfront and communicating the perspective becomes important so that one does not lead their partner to believe that every promise would be fulfilled. Sometimes being brutally honest might hurt the sentiments of your partner but this would avoid resentments and grudges in the relationship. It leaves very little scope for misunderstandings and promotes more honest communication.

4/6

Enjoying your independence

An identity crisis in a relationship happens when one person puts forth the position of being a lover, ignoring their individuality. The sacrifice of personal goals and over-reliance on the relationship leads to a loss of independence. Instead, enjoying your personal space and independence should also be prioritised. This doesn’t always equate to distance in a romantic connection.

5/6

Accepting your partner’s flaws in a relationship

A relationship is a partnership between two individuals, who bring their best and worst traits into their equation. And so, one needs to understand that trying to change their partner is an unhealthy habit. Instead, accepting their imperfections does not cause a relationship to fall apart.

6/6

Not pleasing each other every time

Trying to keep your partner happy all the time can give rise to unrealistic standards and resentment in the relationship. Being upfront and communicating with your partner openly without trying to please them maintains transparency in the relationship. It also helps in open and honest communication between the partners.
