7 Reasons why we can’t survive without our maids

Life without maids is impossible

Remember the famous scene in 'Sex and the City 2', where Charlotte confesses her biggest fear after suspecting her husband of having an affair with the nanny? She was not worried about losing her husband, what gave her sleepless night was her fear of losing the nanny. The same goes for our maids! They have come a long way of being just helpers. We need them for everything: a shoulder to cry on, to gossip and what not. Here are seven reasons why our lives are incomplete without our maids:

2/8

Behind every successful woman, there is a maid

True. Can you ever imagine leaving office on time or hosting a party for your friends without your maids help? Successful working women, or for that matter men, would have been a myth had there been no maids who made sure that their household chores (and life!) ran smooth all the time.

3/8

The social network

They are our means to remain connected to our neighbours, society and what not. When we end up spending 12 hours working or travelling, she comes to our rescue when we need to bond with our surrounding by keeping us connected with everyone. And her secret social networking weapon is…(hold your breath)…gossip!

The secret keeper

Trust us when we say, a maid knows everything. Whether you have hundreds of girlfriends, or having an extra marital affair, there is no way your maid would not know. And if you are lucky, she would guard your secret with her life and vouch for you when needed.

5/8

The 'jugaad' master

From cooking gas to plumbers, maids can manage everything within 60 seconds (that’s an exaggeration, but she can be a real quicksilver or a lifesaver when needed!) The word 'jugaad' was perhaps coined for them.

Problem solver

You don’t know how to wrap a saree, or to cook your husband’s favourite rajma chawal? Don’t fret! Just dial M for your maid, and you have the solution to all your problems.

7/8

Agony aunt

Gone are the days when we had dozens of wise and old aunts to listen to our problems. But we have found the best replacement in our maids. They are not only good listeners but some can come up with great advice too.

8/8

They are our extended family

Those who live in a busy city, away from the love and care of one’s dear ones, their maid becomes a part of an extended family. She is always there, a busy worker and a silent observer. She gives us a shoulder when we need one to cry on. Fetches medicines when we are sick. Life in a metro (or any other city) would have been impossible without our ever-helpful maids.

(Images: Shutterstock)
