Women with these 5 personality traits make the best moms

TOP qualities of best moms

Being a parent is hard, no matter who you are. Even if motherhood comes natural to you, every mom goes through ups and downs while fitting into the shoes of a mom. Now, we all want to be great moms, which is why we need to constantly work on ourselves and keep a tab on what we do and how we do it.

Being a good mom does not necessarily mean being a too-goody person. It actually comes with being smart enough to understand yourself as well as your child, and take actions accordingly. Everyone will give you a lot of advice around parenting, but what you choose to stick to is what can make you the best. Here are some of the top qualities of a great mom:

2/6

Self-awareness

In order to be able to understand your child better, you first need to be in sync with yourself. A person who is truly aware of their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as knows how to manage them, may actually be able to help their kid realise their strengths and weaknesses too.

Parenting isn’t easy and you may often have self-doubts, and question your parenting skills or style. While this is completely normal for any parent, and in a way essential to rethink, being conscious and self-aware can help you jump back in a more efficient and confident manner.

3/6

Active listening

Children love moms who listen to them without any judgement. As your child grows, they’d share their thoughts, observations and experiences in a quite unfiltered manner. It is when parents make them conscious or call them weird or simply ignore the child’s stories, that they start detaching themselves.

What you need to learn is just listen to your child, without judging their experiences or responding with a statement that would negate their feelings.

4/6

Strong

As a mother, you could be challenged by the people around you, someone who hurts your kid, it could be a disease or poor grades. Sometimes, you kid can also hurt your feelings by saying this or that in an argument.

Being strong isn't easy. But dear mommy, this single quality can help you protect your kid and yourself from all the hardships, big and small. It does not mean that you should never shed a tear or never feel afraid. All this is natural, but the key is to face the challenges head on by having faith in your abilities.

5/6

Humble

Parents can often develop a sense of superiority and pride, especially in their relationship with their kids. But as a parent, you will make mistakes. What sets you apart is how you handle them. If you choose denial and never apologize to your kids, sooner or later, they will pick this habit from you.

If you expect your child to own up to their mistakes and come clean, then you have got to practice it too. Your child does not expect you to be picture perfect, unless you project yourselves to be one.

Note that as a parent, your tussles with your kid should not be about who wins, and you will not be a wrong parent if you accept your mistakes - big or small.

6/6

Supportive

Another challenging quality to possess is being a supportive mother. Often you’ll see your child making choices and decisions that do not match yours. However, as long as they are not putting themselves or anyone else at harm or hurt, it is essential to let them go a bit and learn from their own choices and experiences.

Of course, as a parent it is also our duty to guide them towards good values and other essential qualities to raise them. Just make sure you do not go overboard and not control their journey.
