From being independent to living life on her own terms: Neena Gupta’s 5 bold statements on motherhood

Motherhood is one of the most important journeys in a woman’s life, and actress Neena Gupta has often been open about it. She has spoken about the importance of being independent, living life on her own terms, and much more. Here’s a look at 5 bold statements by Neena Gupta on motherhood:

“A woman can do anything”

Neena once shared an Instagram video with daughter Masaba where she opened up about her journey as a mother. She spoke about the challenges she went through and yet continued to chase her goals. She highlighted how “a woman can do anything.” Neena said, “Ek baar jab tu paida hui thi, toh main toh akeli thi, mera sar phat raha tha, bahot dard tha. Aur mujhe tumhe feed karana tha. Toh main doodh pila rahi thi aur meri aankhon se aansu beh rahe the, bahot dard ho raha tha. Hamari Hindi ki ek bahot famous poet hai, naam nahi yaad aa raha. Unki ek line mujhe bahot yaad aati hai, jo tumko batayi ‘Nari teri yahi kahaani, aanchal mein hai doodh aur aankhon mein paani.’” While explaining the message, she said, “In a nutshell, it means the strength of a woman that no matter what difficulty she goes through, she is a nurturer. And she can do anything.”

On how mothers should live life on their own terms

Neena has lived life on her own terms, whether it was regarding her personal life or motherhood. She took bold steps and gave everything possible to raise her daughter. She has often shared the importance of taking a stand for yourself and being financially independent, and that is exactly what she teaches her daughter. “I always object to this line that I have lived life on my own terms. Nobody in this world or on this earth can live life on their own terms. You accept the circumstances and make the best of it,” said Neena in an interview with Gulf News.

Importance of being independent

Neena has shared the importance of being independent and how she didn’t ask for money to raise her child. She inspires women to be self-dependent and stand on their own feet.
In an interview with Brut India, she said, “I realised two things which were very useful for my dignity at that time. One was I didn’t ask for money from others for my child. And I never asked for emotional support from others for my child.”

Sacrifices Neena made as a mother

While talking about the sacrifices she made as a mother, she mentioned how she didn’t go to parlours or do things for herself so she could save money for her daughter. In the interview with Brut India, she said, “I had no other happiness in my life but my child. I never went to parlours. You know, I never did all those things a woman wants to do.”
