5 iconic Bollywood bedrooms that still live rent-free in our minds and were every teenager’s dream

Long before Pinterest mood boards, Instagram bedroom tours, and aesthetically pleasing bedroom designs were a thing, Bollywood quietly set bedroom goals for generations. Be it from cozy nooks filled with books to artistic hideouts and colorful, lively rooms reflecting individual personalities, these bedrooms have gone down in memory as much as the characters living in them did.

Starting from the book-filled room of Naina Talwar from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to the beautiful bedroom of Aisha Banerjee in Wake Up Sid, each bedroom tells the story of the character living in it along with their aspirations and personality. Let’s take a look at five such nostalgic bedrooms from Bollywood movies.

Aisha’s bedroom from Wake Up Sid

Aisha's bedroom of from the movie "Wake Up Sid" was not an extremely rich one, but the décor used in her room gave it an element that made it unforgettable. The bed was decorated with books, warm lights, vibrant cushions, handwritten notes, and other items which weretypical to the life of a young author struggling to make it big in the city of Mumbai. What made this room more desirable than others featured in Bollywood movies was the fact that the design was more easily achievable by the average individual. Unlike the other rooms seen in the film, this bedroom gave the impression of a space which could easily be personalized to fit a person's style and preferences, thereby symbolizing the freedom and independence of living alone for the first time.

Kaira’s bedroom from Dear Zindagi

Kaira’s room resembled a place most girls dreamed of having before stepping into adult life. Being a budding cinematographer who had to cope with all sorts difficulties and challenges in her professional life and personal life as well, Kaira’s room was a representation of her creative personality. This room was not decorated in an excessive way nor did it possess luxurious elements. On the contrary, this room was cozy and inviting, filled with books, photographs, comfortable spots, and lighting. This was the type of room that could be used for doing a creative job, watching movies, writing a diary, or even just sitting back and pondering about something.

Geet's bedroom from Jab We Met

If Geet's character were embodied in a bedroom, it would probably resemble the one featured in Jab We Met. Set in a busy house where she lived, the room exuded the same spirit that made Geet so popular in the movie. Unlike other bedrooms which are generally shown in movies, the room belonging to Geet was very realistic. The room had an appeal that made it seem like the perfect place where family discussions took place, especially late at night when all the cousins were present. It was one of Bollywood’s most realistic bedrooms.

5/6

Millie's bedroom from Khoobsurat

Nothing could describe Millie’s bedroom better than a “colorful explosion.” Her bedroom was packed with lively hues, unique items, travel motifs, and fun objects, all of which complemented her fun-loving nature well. In contrast to minimalist design concepts, in which symmetry is the key element, Millie’s bedroom emphasized uniqueness. It seemed like there was something interesting happening everywhere one turned, giving it the feeling of a scrapbook come alive rather than a movie set. It provided plenty of ideas for teenage girls who love collecting souvenirs and decorating their rooms with pictures.

6/6

Naina Talwar’s bedroom from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Before her transition into an assertive traveler, Naina was the shy medical student who dedicated most of her waking hours to poring over books. As such, her bedroom mirrored this period in her life almost perfectly. It was orderly, well-stocked with study materials, and presented itself in a layout that was both simple and very relatable to students all around the nation.
The reason why this room stood out was because of its utter realism. Rather than trying to make a statement through its design, this room simply told a story, and many young girls could relate to Naina’s struggle between being a dutiful student and dreaming of travel.
