Do you cry too often? Here's what you need to know

What makes you cry? An emotional movie scene to bring on the bawling, chopping onions, loss of a beloved one or a heartbreak? There can be many reasons for crying. And there could be situations where you find yourself in tears without any reason! Yes, it is possible. If experts are to be believed, crying for no reason can be an indication of an underlying physical and mental condition. Let’s find out some of the sneaky reasons that may put you in this weird condition.

2/7

Feeling tired and lethargic

FEELING TIRED AND LETHARGIC: You may not realize it, but after a long day that too when you’ve not slept well, you may feel cranky. This can make you cry. A study done at the University of Pennsylvania revealed that sleeping regularly just for 4.5 hours can have a negative impact on health. It can lead to mood swings, irritability and a feeling of sadness.

3/7

You are stressed

YOU ARE STRESSED: One of the most common reasons for feeling sad is anxiety and stress. Higher levels of anxiety are linked with crying, say health experts. They say that crying facilitates a solution to stressed situations as they provoke interpersonal functions which also include eliciting help and support from others.

4/7

PMS

PMS: Crying during pre-menstruation period is often experienced. It is often caused due to hormonal changes, cramps, bloating and headaches.

5/7

Physical condition

PHYSICAL CONDITION: Some physical conditions can also make you cry for no reason. These medical situations include vitamin deficiency, stroke, thyroid disorder, low blood sugar levels, Parkinson's disease and Pseudobulbar affect (PBA).

6/7

A few Irritants

A FEW IRRITANTS: Just like onions, there are a few irritants that can make you cry. These irritants can be smoking, dust and even wind. You need to wash your eyes thoroughly to prevent further complications.

7/7

Depression

DEPRESSION: Another reason for crying is depression. It can be a temporary feeling and may last for a few days. But if it lasts longer, then it is an indication of some serious health issue. You must keep a check on symptoms such as sadness that lasts for longer than two weeks, lack of interest in favourite activities, extreme fatigue, changes in appetite, insomnia or sleeping too much and suicidal tendencies.
