COVID symptoms could show up in this order, according to a new study

Coronavirus vaccination has begun across the world. It is reported to start in India in the second week of January as well.

However, even with the arrival of a COVID vaccine, threats from the new COVID mutation have sparked fears all around. From the symptoms, signs and the high infectious rate, COVID-19 remains to be as big a danger as it was before.

Experts are also reporting that the virus has undergone a lot of changes. From being first called a flu-like respiratory virus, SARS-COV-2 can have much deadlier implications.

COVID can impact every patient differently

A new analysis of cases between November-January has now revealed that the onset of symptoms with COVID-19 could differ from patients to patients. However, there remain to be some, which are the most commonly reported as the 'first COVID reported symptoms'.

Experts also feel that detection and awareness of the early warning symptoms is something which should be brought into focus, as newer cases with the mutation are being reported worldwide.

Here is the common pattern for COVID symptoms to start showing up, according to new reports.

3/8

Findings of the study

For the same, researchers analyzed findings from over 55,000 confirmed COVID cases backed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the last quarter of 2020.

Additional studies were done on around 1100 cases reported from China in the month of December.

Depending on the analysis, here is the order of symptoms to watch out for:

4/8

Fever

Fever remains to be one of the most typical signs of the viral infection. Reported in over 70% cases, persistent fever and related symptoms could also act as an indicator of severe COVID complications.

While most people report having a low-grade fever which could linger for 4-5 days (at the minimum), detailed investigation might be required if inflammation doesn't subside after 10 days of infection.

Like in cases of viral infections, a coronavirus-related fever may be accompanied by delirium, hallucinations, chills and pains.

5/8

Muscle pain and aches

A lot of people have come forward to report muscle breakdown, acute inflammation and body pain as one of their primary symptoms of the infection. In many cases, body pain and back pain, particularly may preceed fever and other symptoms.

Resultant of rapid inflammation in the body which is caused by viral replication. Myalgia, or muscle pain can also strike during the peak of the infection when the nerves, tendons, joints and ligaments undergo stress. In some cases, it could also lead to swelling, shooting pains and discomfort.

6/8

Cough

A COVID-cough can give your prognosis away. It is also the most common way for a person to transmit the infection onto other healthy, uninfected people.

While studies detail that many patients can experience heavy chest congestion with a cough, sore throat accompanied by a dry cough are typical with COVID patients. The voice can feel very stifled, patients can feel pain in the oral cavities and experience difficulty eating. It could also be something that takes the longest time to heal.

In addition to dry cough, people can also experience problems like hoarseness of voice, shortness of breath and chest pain.

7/8

Diarrhoea

Gastrointestinal symptoms of COVID-19 are being talked about a lot. Diarrhoea and stomach cramps could be a particular sign that the virus has found its way to your gut.

For patients with COVID, diarrhoea may also be accompanied by nausea, loss of appetite, pain, fatigue and dehydration.

Diarrhoea and other gastrointestinal symptoms are mostly seen in patients suffering from moderate or severe forms of the infection.

8/8

Dizziness

A lot of doctors are cautioning people to include unusual dizziness as a COVID sign to keep an eye on. Most common amongst senior citizens with comorbidities, dizziness could be a sign of viral attack on the nervous system, common in cases of severe COVID.

Dizziness can present in the form of lightheadedness, experiencing a spinning sensation, fainting spells, headache, with a bout of confusion and fluctuating heart/ pulse rate.
