Fatty liver reversal: 5 signs the liver is healing

The world is quietly being disrupted by a condition known as fatty liver disease. Once fat begins building up within the liver, it can quietly disturb our health. But with some adjustments to our lifestyle, like making our diet healthier, losing unwanted weight, and staying physically active, fatty liver can often be reversed. But, how do we know that what we are doing is actually working?
Here are five important signs that our liver is on the road to recovery

2/14

What is fatty liver

The liver is a wonderful organ. It has the extraordinary capacity to heal from harm brought about by alcohol drinking, poor diet, illnesses, and other lifestyle habits. Scientifically referred to as hepatic steatosis, or fatty liver, a condition in which the liver cells become filled with an accumulation of excess fat. It is sometimes called a "silent threat" because it doesn't manifest its signs early on, but if it goes undetected,

and untreated, it can progress into serious complications

Liver inflammation
Fibrosis
Cirrhosis
And even liver failure

3/14

Clue no. 1

Waking up feeling lighter
One of the earliest indicators that can be observed is the disappearance of morning puffiness or bloating, two extremely powerful signs of fatty liver. When the liver is overwhelmed with toxins, it can't manage the fluid and flush out waste naturally, and this usually results in water retention, particularly in the face, abdomen, and hands. As the liver starts to heal, the fluid retention declines, and one may feel energised and refreshed upon waking.

4/14

Clue no.2

Fewer mid-day crashes

A slow liver can't regulate blood sugar levels appropriately and remove toxins from the body. This will clearly result in tiredness, particularly a mid-afternoon crash. But as soon as the liver begins to work more efficiently, our body is more effective at metabolizing nutrients. Because of this, we tend to feel more energised throughout the day. Balanced energy can be a definitive indicator that the liver is returning to normal.

5/14

Clue no. 3

Better digestion and less bloat
Our liver, besides cleansing blood, also has a role to play in digestion. Particularly in breaking down fat by secreting bile. When the liver gets a bit bogged down, the production of bile slows, causing slow digestion, gas, or bloating. The liver begins to secrete bile more effectively after it starts to recover, which, in turn, facilitates the body to digest fat and absorb nutrients more effectively. These are optimistic enough signs that the liver is back on the right track!

6/14

Clue no. 4

Stubborn belly fat begins to disappear
The mid-section fat of one's body is directly connected with fatty liver. When the liver is weighed down with excess fat, the body begins to store it, particularly around the belly, usually causing weight gain. But, as the liver begins to mend, one will experience that annoying belly fat dissolving. It is a strong indicator that the metabolic health is on its way back and the body is getting stronger and more efficient at handling fat.

7/14

Clue no. 5

Clearer skin
The liver is an organ of detoxification. It is known to eliminate toxins that otherwise accumulate and impact the skin. As the healing process starts for the liver, one finds that their skin looks clearer, brighter and more radiant. When our body retains toxins in the bloodstream, these can lead to skin problems like dullness, acne or inflammation,

ultimately reminding us that inner health always reflects on outer beauty.

13/14

What is NAFLD?

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common condition where excess fat accumulates in the liver of people who drink little to no alcohol. While a small amount of fat in the liver is normal, NAFLD is diagnosed when fat makes up more than 5% of the liver's weight. It is often considered a "silent" disease because it typically has no symptoms in its early stages and is often discovered during tests for other conditions.
