Have this drink post workout for muscle recovery

Adding protein to the post-workout routine is essential for muscle repair and recovery. Sufficient intake of this macronutrient along with proper resting time maximises your output and helps you gain muscle faster. That's why most people chug on multiple glasses of protein shake after their training session to fulfil their nutrition goals. Taking protein shake is unarguably one of the popular trends at this time and most fitness enthusiasts swear by it. But another reality is that most protein supplements available in the market are made artificially and only mimic the way natural nutrients act in our bodies. The safer way to increase the intake of protein is by taking natural food products rich in this nutrient like sattu or roasted chana flour.

Sattu or roasted chana flour

Sattu is the most underrated natural source of protein. Recently, life coach Luke Coutinho shared an Instagram video speaking about the benefits of this healthy form of flour and how to add it to your daily routine. Luke himself takes a big glass of sattu every day in the morning post-workout to fulfil his daily protein intake. Made from roasted chana, sattu is highly consumed in the Eastern states of Bihar and Jharkhand in the summer to stay hydrated and prevent heatstroke.

Nutrient content of sattu

Sattu is a nutritional powerhouse and probably the best source of plant-based protein. It is gluten-free and is loaded with healthy nutrients. It is loaded with calcium, manganese, iron, and magnesium, which are essential for muscle repair and maintenance. 100 grams of sattu powder contains:

Energy: 413 Calories

Water: 3 grams

Carbohydrates: 64 grams

Other benefits of taking sattu

Apart from being an excellent post-workout drink, sattu also has some amazing health benefits. It can be included in the diet by anyone, whether you exercise or you don't. Here are some other health benefits of drinking sattu daily.

Great for digestion: Sattu contains a high amount of insoluble fiber that can help in digestion and prevent constipation. Sattu can cleanse your colon, remove toxins from the intestine and prevent constipation.
