Benefits of consuming ash gourd juice

Sadhguru is known for recommending healthy lifestyle and food practices. In a video on his official YouTube channel, he has mentioned that there is a highly pranic food that not only settles your nerves but also gives you enormous energy and sharpens your intellect as well! According to him, it's the ash gourd, which is highly pranic in nature and brings enormous amounts of energy and at the same time keeps your nerves very calm.

Nutrition of ash gourd

While ash gourd is composed primarily of water (about 96%), it also boasts a variety of beneficial vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C and B-complex vitamins such as niacin, thiamine and riboflavin. Ash gourd is also a valuable source of minerals like iron, potassium, zinc, calcium and magnesium. The gourd also provides a good amount of protein, carbohydrates and dietary fiber. The taste of ash gourd is very mild, like a cucumber. It has virtually no taste of its own, so it is easy to incorporate into all kinds of salads, smoothies, and juices on hot days, the Isha Foundation blog post reads. According to Ayurveda, ash gourd has a cooling nature that helps balance pitta (body heat) and calm the mind. It also contains zinc and calcium, that strengthen immunity.

Who should consume ash gourd

He calls ash gourd highly positive. As per his video, if you consume a glass of ash gourd juice every day, the number of cancerous cells in the body will dramatically come down and you will see clearly the sharpness of your intellect will enhance itself. He suggests that children should drink ash gourd juice. It will help them become clearer and sharper during the growing age. This will be noticeable within a few weeks of consumption of ash gourd.

Why add honey or pepper to ash gourd juice

As per Sadhguru, those who are asthmatic, who are susceptible to colds and coughs, should add a little bit of honey or pepper to the ash gourd juice and consume it. This will neutralize the cooling effect of the ash gourd to some extent.

How to make ash gourd juice

Cut the ash gourd, remove the seeds, rind, and dice into small cubes. Blend, strain, add lemon juice, salt, and pepper, serve chilled, and consume it fresh for maximum hydration and digestive benefits. The pale green drink feels cooling and light, perfect for sweltering afternoons or after a heavy meal. Packed with fibre, electrolytes, and gentle sweetness, it refreshes without weighing you down. Regularly included in traditional diets, ash gourd juice is a natural way to soothe the stomach, restore balance, and keep the body calm. Its alkalising effect helps flush toxins, ease acidity, and support steady energy through the day. Low in calories yet nutrient-rich, it’s also a smart choice for weight management, hydration during hot seasons, and maintaining skin clarity, making this humble vegetable juice a powerhouse of wellness hidden in simplicity.
