Growing garlic in your kitchen is a tricky task as you need to prep up the soil with some compost or manure. Garlic usually grows in a soil with pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Also avoid using high-nitrogen fertilizers as they may lead to foliage growth. Make sure you take 50% soil and 50% compost to prep up the soil.

Remove the cloves carefully and let the flaky peel of the bulbs intact. Make sure you don't damage the bulbs while separating the cloves of garlic. Make sure you remove it right before planting.
