Makar Sankranti 2026: How to make Til ke Laddoo (Sesame Laddoos) at home

Til ke Laddoo Recipe

The festival of Makar Sankranti is around the corner. It is the harvest festival and is celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh. It is also referred to as Maghi, Poush Sankranti or simply Sankranti in different parts of the country. And on this day, consuming til ke laddoo is considered to be an auspicious practice. Here's the simplest recipe to try at home. Scroll down to read.

Ingredients


1 cup white sesame seeds, ¾ cup jaggery, 2 tbsp ghee, 2 tbsp roasted peanuts, 1 tsp ginger, and 1/2 tsp cardamom powder

Step 1


First of all, dry roast sesame seeds on low heat in a kadhai until they turn light golden and start popping. Once they start popping, transfer them to a plate and set aside.

Step 2


In the same kadhai, dry roast peanuts until fragrant and crunchy. Once they cool down, remove the skin.

Step 3


In the same kadhai, now heat ghee along with jaggery, and cook on low heat until jaggery melts completely and gains sticky consistency.

Now, add roasted sesame seeds, cardamom powder, and peanuts. Mix well.

While the mixture is still warm, grease your palms with ghee and shape into round laddoos.

Let them cool down completely and store them in an airtight container.
