What is low-fat diet?

There are so many dietary plans available today. Different nutritionists and dieticians come up with new diet charts every other day. There is one particular diet which has still remained popular because it has worked for a great number of people. That is the low-fat diet. Many research studies have come out to suggest that polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats not only help in losing weight but also regulating hypertension too. Low-fat diet is all about restricting the daily consumption of dietary fat from both the plant and animal sources in a manner which is healthy. Most experts abide by the fact that fat should constitute no more than 30% of the daily calorie intake. In that regard, here are certain food items that you should eat for a healthy low-fat diet plan:

Vegetables

Vegetables, particularly the leafy greens, are wonderful for a low-fat diet plan. Apart from being almost entirely fat free, these vegetables are also loaded with the most significant nutrients and minerals. Studies suggest that consuming vegetables like kale, spinach, and lettuce can protect from diabetes and heart disease as well. Similarly, you should include such vegetables as broccoli, cauliflower, and turnips in your diet plan for similar reasons.

A low-fat diet is mostly accompanied with a high-protein diet as well. The protein rich foods that can help you in shedding that extra weight through your low-fat diet are eggs, skinless chicken breast, chickpeas, kidney beans, lentils, soya chunks, etc. It’s advised to have a breakfast with a high protein intake and to go for plenty of lean protein for dinner.

Healthy fats

There is a misconception that people who eat fat can not lose those extra kilos. That is because not all fats are the same. It is all about reducing the consumption of saturated fats and instead going for those food products that are rich in polyunsaturated fats. The best food items constituting this good fat that you must make a part of your low-fat diet include olive oil, walnuts, almonds, flax seeds, peanut butter, ghee, etc.

Almost all fruits are low in fat while being high in vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Make such nutritious fruits as apples, pineapples, lemons, oranges, plums, peaches, and pineapples a part of your daily diet.
