Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. This year the festival of Eid will be celebrated on May 3, 2022 in India. It is the first day of the month of Shawwal and people of Muslim community all over the world celebrate the day by offering payer and enjoying scrumptious meat and sweet delicacies. ​Seviyan

This is the most popular Eid dessert made with pan-fried vermicelli, ghee, sugar, milk, and dry fruits. All you need to do is sauté 1 cup vermicelli in 4 tbsp ghee for 3-5 minutes. Then add ½ cup sugar and 2 tbsp saffron water, cook for 15-20 minutes and serve with a garnishing of fried dry fruits. (Image: istock)

​Fruit Custard

Popularly made with vanilla custard powder, milk, sugar, dry fruits and seasonal fruits like mango, banana, and apple. To make this easy dessert, boil 2 cups of milk and add ½ sugar to it. Next, make a mixture of 4 tbsp water and 2 tbsp custard powder and add it to boiling milk and keep stirring. Allow the mixture to cook for 3-4 minutes. ​Sheer Khurma

This is another popular Eid recipe that you can try at home. All you need to do is, sauté 1 cup vermicelli in 4 tbsp ghee and set aside. Next, in a pan, boil 3 cups of milk and add sautéed vermicelli, sugar and fried nuts of your choice. Also, add 4-6 de-seeded dates and cook for 15-20 minutes. Your Sheer Khurma is ready. ​Dates Halwa

To make this tasty and healthy halwa, boil 2 cups of milk on low flame. Add 10-12 de-seeded and finely chopped dates and keep stirring. Add 1/2 cup powdered sugar and cook until the mixture reaches desired consistency. Garnish with cardamom powder and fried cashew and almond. Serve. (Image: istock)

​Shahi Tukda

Make sugar syrup on low flame using 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Next, make rabdi by boiling 4 cups of milk and reduce it to about 1/4th of its original quantity. Add 1/2 cup sugar syrup to it and keep cooking on slow flame. Once done, remove from heat. Next, shallow fry 8-12 triangle bread slices in ghee, till they turn golden brown in colour. Now, soak the fried bread slices in remaining syrup and then place in a serving plate and pour the rabdi on top and garnish with dry fruits. (Image: istock)

​Kesar Phirni

To make this easy dessert, boil 4 cups of milk and then add crushed and soaked ½ cup rice to it. Keep stirring and cook for 15 minutes. Add 1 cup sugar and 4 tsp saffron water to it. Cook for another 15-20 minutes. Your homemade Kesar Phirni is ready. Garnish with dry fruits and serve either hot or cold. (Image: istock)
