Simple home remedies for reducing dry cough

Lately, there are several people who have been reporting cases of viral infections, in which coughing is the major trouble along with a high fever that comes down in more than a week. However, the coughing is something that’s not going away and is turning into prolonged coughing that goes away after 4-6 weeks. Doctors are saying that this prolonged coughing is part of post-flu symptoms that are not even responding to the usual cough medications. This prolonged coughing can be due to pollution or air quality, which can weaken our immune system when there is long-term exposure. If you are also suffering from such coughing, then we have got some home remedies for you that are also proven by Ayurveda. Do try these remedies and let us know if they helped you out. Turmeric Milk

It is one of the easiest ways to get rid of prolonged coughing, as turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. All you need to do is mix a teaspoon of turmeric powder with a glass of warm milk and drink it before bedtime. This milk is also known as Golden Milk, which has several other benefits.

This is another great herb for treating dry cough. For this remedy, boil milk with a clove of garlic and then add a pinch of turmeric to it. Saltwater Gargle

It has been the best solution for cough since ages and has been recommended by our Nanis and Dadis. Gargling with warm saltwater can help soothe a sore throat and reduce dry cough. For this remedy, add half a teaspoon of salt to a cup of warm water and gargle for 30 seconds, then spit out the water.

Licorice Root

Licorice root has demulcent properties that can help soothe a dry, scratchy throat and reduce coughing. You can either chew on this root simply or boil a few pieces of licorice root in water for a few minutes, strain the tea, and drink it 2-3 times a day. But, it should not be consumed by pregnant women and those having high blood pressure issues.
