BAFTA 2026: The red carpet fashion disasters we simply can't ignore

BAFTA 2026: Meet the worst dressed celebrities

The 79th British Academy Film Awards had it all. Hosted by the ever-charming Alan Cumming, the night gave us big wins, royal sightings with the Prince and Princess of Wales, and plenty of memorable moments. But let’s be honest for a second, while we love celebrating cinematic brilliance, there’s a certain guilty pleasure in dissecting the fashion flops. The 2026 BAFTAs delivered bad fashion in spades, bringing us sculptural nightmares and completely bizarre styling choices.

Here is a look at the celebs who definitely missed the mark on the red carpet.

2/11

Teyana Taylor

We’re barely into 2026, and Teyana Taylor is already making a habit of landing on the wrong fashion lists. She showed up in a brown satin gown that completely overwhelmed her frame. With its crumpled, ultra-high collar and sheer volume of fabric, she looked less like a movie star and more like she was being actively digested by a giant satin Venus flytrap.

3/11

Glenn Close

Speaking of too much fabric, veteran actress Glenn Close stepped out in an oversized matching set giving off serious living room vibes. The white embroidery heavily resembled a vintage rug or throw pillow. Add in clashing accessories—like a distracting brooch and a mismatched clutch, and hemlines that dragged on way too long, and the whole ensemble was a total miss.

4/11

Ethan Hawke

It’s always fun when guys push the envelope with traditional menswear, but Ethan Hawke’s look was memorable for all the wrong reasons. He wore a black suit heavily speckled with white dots. While likely intentional, it honestly just looked like he was suffering from a massive dandruff crisis. Throwing a skinny bolo tie into the mix was the cherry on top of a very bad outfit.

5/11

Olivia Cooke

Olivia Cooke looked ready for a workout rather than a glamorous evening out. Her odd zip-up dress featured a dropped waist and a mesh bottom that screamed athleisure. If she had styled it up with a sleek bun and statement shoes, it might have been salvaged. Instead, it just looked like gym wear desperately trying to pass as a gown.

6/11

Jack O'Connell

Did Jack O'Connell accidentally drink a shrinking potion before hitting the red carpet? The actor wore a strangely long jacket paired with a massive bowtie. The proportions were so wildly off that it created a funny optical illusion, making the totally average-height guy look absolutely tiny.

7/11

Erin Doherty

On the flip side of strange silhouettes was Erin Doherty. She wore a conical, sculptural dress that basically functioned as a walking table. It might have been cool for the avant-garde Met Gala, but for an awards ceremony where you actually have to sit down in a chair? Completely impractical.

8/11

Aimee Lou Wood

The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood is absolutely stunning, but her form-fitting pale pink dress did her no favors. The "Pepto Bismol" shade washed out her complexion entirely, and it was so tight it almost looked like she wasn't wearing anything at all.

9/11

Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst also struggled, hiding a potentially chic black and white dress under a baffling pink jacket. Its spherical sleeves were gigantic, literally bigger than her head, stealing attention away from the rest of her look.

10/11

Maya Rudolph

Maya Rudolph’s look was a mess of baggy rolled-up sleeves and an asymmetrical skirt that legitimately looked like it was falling off mid-step. No one wants to walk the red carpet looking like they are in the middle of a wardrobe malfunction.

11/11

Audrey Nuna

The award for doing the absolute most goes to Audrey Nuna. She seemingly raided a kitschy grandmother's closet, piling on a giant poodle skirt, an odd cardigan, a frilly collar, a tie, and blue lipstick. It was a sensory overload in the worst way possible.
