From Lord Ram saris to Sri Ram Tattoos: India gears up for Ram Mandir consecration ceremony

As Ayodhya prepares for the consecration ceremony at the Ram Mandir, artisans from various parts of the country are showcasing their enthusiasm for the temple's inauguration through distinctive and creative expressions. Here's a look at some noteworthy creations of Indian artisans to celebrate the homecoming of Lord Ram.

Lord Ram saris

A textile businessman from Surat has prepared a special sari with pictures of Lord Ram and the Ayodhya temple printed on it. The sari will be sent to Ayodhya for Lord Ram's wife Sita, reverentially known as Ma Janaki.

Banarasi drapes

Weavers in Varanasi are gearing up to make a fashion statement with Banarasi saris themed around the 'Ram Mandir' as the consecration ceremony approaches this month. These skilled artisans are diligently crafting beautiful drapes that reflect the rich tapestry of the Ramayana. Customized orders include intricate patterns featuring Ram Mandir motifs on the pallu, designs illustrating the various stages of Lord Ram's life from childhood to the triumph over Ravana, and 'Shree Ram' inscriptions embellishing the borders of these exquisite saris.

Return of the turbaned men

Nearly five centuries ago, when some temples in Ayodhya faced destruction at the hands of Mughal invaders, men from the Suryavanshi Kshatriya community, called the ancestors of Raghuvanshi dynasty were believed to have undertaken a vow not to wear turbans and footwear until Lord Ram's home was restored. Ahead of the consecration ceremony, as many as 400 turbans have already been distributed among the community members.

Lord Ram tattoo

In anticipation of the consecration ceremony for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, a tattoo artist in Nagpur has declared his intention to create a tattoo featuring Lord Ram's name on the hands of 1,001 individuals at no cost. A video circulating on social media showcases the tattoo artist in action, diligently crafting "Shri Ram" tattoos on the hands of several people.
