Understand what trapped pores are

Trapped pores are often caused by excess oil secretion, dead skin cells, pollution, and makeup buildup, which leads to issues of whiteheads, blackheads, acne, and uneven texture. While one cannot technically shrink these pores permanently, one can keep them clean and less visible if one follows these skincare remedies and a good skincare routine. Let’s see how to reduce the issue of trapped pores at home.

2/6

Start doing steam therapy

Facial steaming helps soften the trapped oil and dirt, making it easier to cleanse your pores. You simply need to boil water and pour it into a bowl, lean over it with a towel, and cover your head. Take the steam for 5-7 minutes and then follow it up with a gentle cleanser or a clay mask. Steam usually loosens the debris and increases circulation, which allows better removal of buildup. But do this only twice or thrice a week.

Start applying multani mitti

Multani mitti is a natural oil-absorbing clay that is widely used in Indian skincare. You need to simply mix multani mitti with rose water and apply it evenly on your face. Let it dry for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. It will absorb your excess oil, tighten the appearance of your pores, and improve your facial shine. Use it twice a week for best results.

Start applying aloe vera gel

Do not apply the aloe vera gel available in the market, but apply pure aloe vera, which will help calm inflammation and regulate the sebum production as well. Apply fresh aloe vera gel on clean skin and leave it overnight. Rinse it off in the morning. Aloe vera gel contains natural enzymes that gently cleanse and hydrate the skin without clogging your pores. It is perfect for acne-prone and oily skin.

Ice cube therapy

Use ice cube therapy, which temporarily tightens the skin and reduces pore visibility. Wrap it up in an ice cube and keep it inside a clean cloth. Gently rub it all over your face for 60 seconds. Ice constricts the blood vessels and tends to make your pores appear smaller for a short period of time. It is perfect before the application of makeup. You can do this every day in the morning, which will also remove issues of puffiness.

Honey and lemon face mask

This combination is rich in antibacterial properties, whereas lemon contains mild natural acids. You need to mix 1 tablespoon of honey with a few drops of lemon juice. Apply this for 10 minutes and rinse it thoroughly. This reduces issues of bacteria, gently exfoliates the skin, brightens dull skin, and blesses you with a glowing and clearer complexion. However, avoid this if you have sensitive skin, and if you’re applying it, then definitely seal it up with a sunscreen after washing.
