Reasonable and effective options

There are plenty of expensive supplements, products, and treatments that reverse hair thinning, but instead of creating a hole in your pocket, you can start using some ingredients that are simply sitting in your kitchen. From rinsing your hair with coffee to exfoliating the extra build-up with a ginger mask, try these 5 natural ingredients that are chock-full of nutrients to stimulate hair growth even at the age of 50.

Coffee hair rinsing

Topical use of caffeine slashes the risk of hair issues by around 83%. Caffeine usually acts as a strong barrier that stops the creation of the hair loss hormone, i.e., dihydrotestosterone, and prevents hair thinning before it even begins, around the age of 50. Caffeine application boosts blood circulation to hair follicles and stimulates new hair growth. Just pour 1 cup of cool, brewed coffee all over your damp hair, and rub it on the scalp for a minute. Let it sit for another 5 minutes, and then rinse it with normal shampoo.

Create a homemade cinnamon serum

Brimming with antimicrobial properties, cinnamon breaks down follicle-clogging buildup, keeping your hair and scalp clean and preventing hair fall issues. The stimulant spice also increases nutrient-rich blood flow to the scalp and follicles, leading to healthy hair growth. You simply need to mix 5 tablespoons of olive oil, which repairs damage and fortifies strands at the root, and add 3 tablespoons of honey, which moisturises your hair strands. Now, microwave the two for 10 seconds and add 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon. Apply the solution on your scalp for 5 minutes and let it sit for another 10 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and shampoo, and follow this process twice a week.

Deep condition your hair with egg yolks

Egg yolks have biotin that strengthens strands at the root and prevents premature shedding while also encouraging healthy growth. Egg yolks also have lecithin that hydrates your hair strands and reverses any damage and brittleness. Take a bowl and combine 1 egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of olive oil that contains amino acids. The mixture helps reduce breakage, which can make hair appear thinner. Apply the mixture to damp hair from roots to ends, and then cover your hair with a shower cap. Allow the mixture to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing to combat hair fall and dull hair.

Start rubbing chia seeds

Chia seeds are rich in protein, which repairs damaged hair follicles and fortifies strands at the root, thereby preventing hair fall. The high amounts of minerals present in these seeds contain selenium and calcium that stimulate follicles to promote healthy hair growth. Just mix 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and ½ cup of coconut milk, which hydrates the hair deeply. Let it soak for 5 minutes and start the massaging process on a dry and clean scalp. Let it sit for 15 minutes, and rinse off the mixture.

Overnight ginger mask

Ginger roots have high levels of magnesium that fortify hair at the root. It also has high levels of potassium, which prevents shedding with vitamin B-5 and thickens the diameter of hair fibres. Applying a ginger mask overnight allows the nutrients to penetrate deep inside and increases the blood flow to the scalp, which eventually speeds the process of hair growth. Take 2 tablespoons of olive oil and add ¼ tablespoon of grated ginger. Before going to bed, apply this mixture from roots to ends using your fingers and massage it for a minute. The process exfoliates dead skin that clogs the scalp and blocks hair growth. Now, cover it with a plastic cap and rinse it off with shampoo in the morning.
