Summer morning drinks that beat hunger and keep you energized

Summer mornings can be blissful. The sunshine makes you feel you are invincible. But as the clock strikes 10 a.m., your stomach starts to growl, your eyelids droop, and before you know it, you are face-down at a vending machine, grabbing the first treat you can get. Sounds familiar? Well, the right morning ritual can prevent this. Here are seven beverages that will keep you energised and full throughout the day.

2/6

Greek yoghurt smoothie

Your gut’s best friend – Greek yoghurt is packed with protein. Start your day with a yoghurt smoothie. Add some frozen berries, a banana, and some protein powder (if you prefer). Throw them into the blender, and there you have it: a delicious smoothie that will give you high-quality protein. You will notice your mid-morning cravings become non-existent. You can also add a handful of oats for extra fiber.

3/6

Chia seed + coconut water cooler

Chia seeds are nutritional powerhouses. Take two tablespoons of chia seeds and soak them in chilled coconut water. Squeeze in a lemon and add a pinch of sea salt. The electrolytes in coconut water will keep you hydrated, while the fibre in chia seeds will keep you full. This refreshing combination tastes like a treat and will also cut those sugar cravings.

4/6

Almond butter + banana drink

Take a frozen banana and add two tablespoons of almond butter and unsweetened almond milk, then blend. Sprinkle some cinnamon for the final touch. Almond butter is a rich source of healthy fats and protein. This will help digest food slowly and avoid any sugar crashes. Cinnamon will give you a flavour boost. This creamy drink will keep you energized through the morning.

5/6

Peanut butter + oat smoothie

Another indulgent drink that feels more like a treat. Add some rolled oats, unsweetened peanut butter, frozen bananas, and unsweetened milk to a blender. You can add a touch of honey if you prefer. Oats are an excellent source of complex carbohydrates and beta-glucan fibre, while peanut butter will give you protein and healthy fats. You will feel on top of the world all morning.

6/6

Matcha latte with almond milk

If you are a matcha girlie, whisk some matcha powder into chilled almond milk. Now add a touch of honey and vanilla. Matcha will give you a gentle caffeine boost in the morning, and the L-theanine in it will keep you focused. The almond milk will provide some protein. This drink is good for your gut and your body – not to mention that it will soothe your soul.
