Nvidia CEO and streetfood lover Jensen Huang tried to skip a food line by paying everyone's bill; internet calls it 'billionaire privilege'
That's the question social media can't seem to agree on after a video of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at a Taiwan night market went viral.
Most people would either wait patiently or walk away. Huang apparently had a different idea.
According to people who were there, the Nvidia boss jokingly asked if he could go first if he paid for everyone's food. The vendor reportedly told him there was no need because the customers had already paid. Huang's response? He'd pay for them again anyway.
People in line laughed, cheered, and seemed more than happy to let him move to the front. In videos circulating online, Huang can be seen chatting with the stall owner, interacting with people around him, and looking genuinely excited when he finally got his hands on the grilled corn.
But while the crowd at the market appeared to enjoy the moment, social media had a lot more to say.
Others saw it very differently.
Critics argued that the incident was a perfect example of "billionaire privilege" in action—the idea that money can help people sidestep everyday inconveniences that everyone else has to deal with.
Another argued that if everyone in the queue willingly agreed and got their meal paid for, then it wasn't really cutting the line at all. It was more like buying an express pass.
Not everyone was impressed, though. Some felt the gesture missed the point. Their argument was that waiting your turn is waiting your turn, no matter how rich you are. If he wanted to treat everyone, they said, he could have done it after standing in line like everyone else.
What people were really arguing about was fairness. If everyone benefits from a deal and nobody objects, does it still count as special treatment? Or does money automatically change the equation?
The viral moment has also reminded many people of Huang's own journey. Long before he became one of the most powerful figures in the tech world and the face of the AI boom, he reportedly worked as a dishwasher and waiter at Denny's.

Whether you think it was a clever solution, a harmless joke, or a classic case of billionaire privilege, one thing is undeniable: a simple grilled corn stall ended up creating one of the internet's most unexpected debates.
And judging by the comments, people aren't really talking about the corn anymore. They're talking about what they would do if they had the money to skip the queue themselves. What would you do, if you had so much money?
