Akkineni Nagarjuna: Here are some lesser known facts about the actor

Considered to be the most successful Telugu film actor ever, Akkineni Nagarjuna has left an indelible mark on Tollywood. He is widely known as a handsome Telugu actor as well as a producer. He studied B.S. in Automobile Engineering from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Later he forayed into the film industry as well, acting in many box office hits in about 30 years of acting career. He is celebrating his birthday on August 29 and on the occasion of his special day, let’s take look at the lesser known facts about the actor.

Although the actor’s debut film ‘Vikram’ was a super hit, the 1987 film ‘Majnu’ proved to be Nagarjuna’s first major success. He was cast in the role of Rajesh, a racy youngster who falls in love with Alekhya and things become worse when they plan to get married. Directed by Darsaka Ratna Dasari Narayana Rao, ‘Majnu’ had music by the popular Bollywood composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Nagarjuna is a successful producer too. The actor has produced so many hit films so far. Some of them including ‘Hello’, ‘Ra Randoi Veduka Chudham’, ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’, ‘Manam’, ‘Uyyala Jampala’, ‘Mass’, ‘Satyam’, ‘Manmadhudu’, ‘Seetharama Raju’, ‘Sri Sita Ramula Kalyanam Chootamu Raarandi’, ‘Ninne Pelladata’ and many others. Almost all the films proved to be big hits where he featured in and produced some of these films and, established himself as a leading man in Tollywood.

His top hits include ‘Annamayya’, ‘Manmadhudu’, ‘Siva’, ‘Manam’, ‘Ninne Pelladatha’, ‘Geetanjali’, ‘Hello Brother’, ‘Oopiri’, ‘Santosham’, ‘Sri Ramadasu’, ‘Janaki Ramudu’, ‘President Gari Pellam’, ‘Varasudu’ and so many. His character in the Ram Gopal Varma directorial, ‘Siva’ became the hot favourite for the modern commercial Tollywood hero-bash. ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ (2016), which became the highest-grossing film of all-time in his career, providing that he was far from being eclipsed by younger aspirants to his throne.

Akkineni Nagarjuna will be next seen in not one but three films. The handsome actor had already shot for Sriram Adittya’s ‘Devadas’, in which he shares screen space with Natural star Nani. He has also completed the first schedule for the Hindi film ‘Brahmastra’ in Bulgaria. After fifteen years, he will be seen on the Bollywood silver screen with this film. Interestingly, he is all set to make his Malayalam debut with ‘Marakkar’, in which he will share screen space Mohanlal. The movie is directed by Priyadarshan.
