Two years of Jyotika and Karthi's Thambi: Slideshow

Thambi, the action and suspense thriller directed by Jeethu Joseph, has Jyotika and Karthi in the lead along with Sathyaraj. The plot revolves around the identity of the long-lost son of a local politician. Music for the film is by Govind Vasantha, cinematography by RD Rajasekhar and editing by VS Vinayak.

Karthi and Jyotika teamed up for a film for the first time and the combination was looked forward to by the fans of both actors. The duo played brother and sister in the film and their chemistry as siblings won many hearts. The film's director Jeethu Joseph, too, made a special appearance in it.

The shoot for the film was wrapped in a single schedule and the portions were canned in Coimbatore, Ooty, Palakkad and Goa. Though the film received mixed reviews, it was declared a commercial success. Though Jeethu Joseph had made his Kollywood debut with Papanasam, the remake of his superhit Malayalam film, Drishyam, Thambi was considered his straight Tamil debut.

Veteran actress Sowcar Janaki returned to Tamil cinema after a brief hiatus. She was earlier seen in Vanavarayan Vallavarayan in 2014. She played Parvathy's (Jyotika) grandmother in the Thambi. The actress was lauded for her performance who is aware that Vicky (Karthi) is a fraud and constantly tries to communicate the same to others through her eyes.
