The intense promotion of the film hyped the audience for the film, and it had a theatrical release last February. The 2005 Tamil release 'Chandramukhi' featuring Rajinikanth was one of the biggest hits in Tamil. Director P. Vasu opted to do a sequel to 'Chandramukhi', and the film had a new set of stars that included Raghava Lawrence, Kangana Ranaut, Lakshmi Menon, Mahima Nambiar, and Raadhika, among others, in the main roles. 'Chandramukhi 2' was released in theaters last September, but the film received mixed reviews.
