After years of hard work, Mani Ratnam made his dream project 'Ponniyin Selvan' turn true, and the historical drama is based on the novel written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. The epic historical film that deals with the history of Cholas has been made in two parts. The first part which was released in September 2022 emerged as a huge hit, and the second part is slated to arrive this week on April 28. Chiyaan Vikram plays Chola King Aditya Karikalan, the ruthless king who is away from home on a battle. Aditya Karikalan's character has been well explained in the film's first part. But the reason for his break up with Nandini is yet to be revealed, and the sequel will explain it for sure.

Karthi plays the role of Vandiyadevan in the historical drama, and he looked so charming in his character. At the same time, he is powerful too, and he is on a mission to save Arunmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi). But he and Arunmozhi Varman land in trouble as they were surrounded by the Pandyas at the climax of the first part.

Sarathkumar plays Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, and he is also the husband of Nandini. His character in the film is a tricky one as he operates to dethrone Aditya Karikalan from the King's chair to make his favorite Madhurantakam, the King of the Cholas. Sarathkumar displayed a brilliant performance through the film's first part, and he is expected to carry the same through the sequel.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays a dual role, and her other role as Mandakini is a calm and secret one in the film's first part. Since she is going to be the one, who is going to save Arunmozhi Varman from the danger that he landed in the climax of 'Ponniyin Selvan 1'.
