Monisha Unni

Nakhakshathangal actress Monisha died in a fatal car accident in the year 1992. The actress was only 21 year old then. She was shooting for the movie Cheppadividya, and was travelling in a car with her mother when the accident took place near Cherthala. Her mother Sreedevi Unni, who is a professional Mohiniattam dancer was saved but suffered several fractures. However Monisha lost her life, saddening the whole Malyalam film industry. She won the National Film Award for Best Actress for the film Nakhakshathangal when she was only 15 making her the youngest recipient for this category ever.

Rani Chandra

Miss Kerala of 1972, Rani Chandra passed away in the year 1976 in a plane crash while she was returning from Mumbai (then Bombay) in an Indian Airlines flight. Rani Chandra was with her mother and her three sisters. She was a Kerala State Film Award winner. She won the Best Actress Award for the film Swapnadanam. The beautiful actress gained popularity with the song Kannan Oru Kaikuzhanthai from the Tamil film Bhadrakali. This movie was not completed at the time of her death. Later the unfinished portions were shot using a body double.

Soundarya

Kannada actress Soundarya, who acted in couple of Malayalam movies, died in a fatal plane crash near Bangalore city. She was campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming elections. Soundarya was travelling with her brother when this incident took place. She acted in Malayalam movies like Yathrakarude Sradhakku (2002) opposite actor Jayaram and Kilichundan Mampazham (2003) opposite Mohanlal. She posthumously won the Best Actress Filmfare Award South for her Kannada film Apthamitra (2004), remake of the 1993 Malayalam blockbuster Manichitratazhu.

Taruni Sachdev

Cute child artist Taruni Sachdev died in a plane crash on her birthday on May 14, 2012 when she was travelling to Nepal for a pilgrimage. Reportedly, she was one of the highest paid child actress and very much in demand at that time. She has acted in many TV commercials for big brands. She has even acted in two Malayalam films - Vellinakshatram and Sathyam both of which released in the year 2004. She even acted in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Paa that released in the year 2009.
