Who doesn't love to watch a good comedy movie? From the Hollywood actor-director Buster Keaton’s silent comedy films to modern comedy films, it's understandable that the comedy genre is enjoyed by the majority irrespective of the language. Coming to the Malayalam film industry, there are several iconic comedy films that we would like to watch umpteen times. Mookkilla Rajyathu

The comedy film ‘Mookkilla Rajyathu’ released in the year 1991 is such a terrific classic movie that you won't get bored even if you watch it countless times. The film was directed by Thaha and Ashokan under the script penned down by the writer B. Jayachandran. The story of ‘Mookkilla Rajyathu’ follows a team of four mentally disabled people Benny, Venu, Keshu, and Krishnankutty who escape from a mental asylum in the hope of seeing the Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan when they see the news of him visiting Kerala. But all efforts go in vain as they realize that the newspaper that they saw was from weeks back. The film stars actors Mukesh, Siddique, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Thilakan in prominent roles.

CID Moosa

The film ‘CID Moosa’ doesn't need any introduction. The film directed by Johny Antony is undoubtedly one of the best comedy films in Malayalam cinema history. Humorous one-liner dialogues coupled with the terrific performances of the leads make ‘CID Moosa’ a complete fun ride.’CID Moosa’ features the actors Dileep, Jagathi Sreekumar, Bhavana, and Harisree Asokan.

In Harihar Nagar

The film ‘In Harihar Nagar’ is a must-watch if you are planning to watch a good comedy film with some mysterious elements in it. The writers Siddique and Lal perfectly set an engaging screenplay for the film with the right potions of humor and emotions coupled with mystery. The film had a battalion of talented actors that included Mukesh, Siddique, Jagadish, Asokan, and Rizabawa.

Aanaval Mothiram

The film ‘Aanaval Mothiram’ could be termed as one of the underrated films in Malayalam cinema history. The plot of the GS Vijayan directorial film follows a scaredy police officer who suddenly decides to take risky, life-threatening missions as he receives a misdiagnosis, saying that he only has a few weeks to live. Actor Sreenivasan plays the pivotal lead in the film as the police officer character James Palliathara and the rest of the cast include Suresh Gopi, Saranya Ponvannan, and KPAC Sunny.

Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu

The Sreenivasan starrer film ‘Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu’ has all the elements for a great classic movie. From the flawless storyline to stunning performances, this Sathyan Anthikad directorial film is truly a masterpiece. ‘Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu’ also has one of the most satisfying twist endings and the actor Sreenivasan nails his performance as the goldsmith character named Bhaskaran. The rest of the cast in this film includes Jayaram, Urvashi, Innocent and Jagathy Sreekumar.
