It was a week filled with joy for Malayalam cinema. From KS Chithra being conferred with Padma Bhushan to Megastar Mammootty stepping out of his house to resume shooting after 10 months, a lot of interesting incidents took place this week. KS Chithra honoured with Padma Bhushan
On January 25, the government announced Padma Awards 2021. Playback singer KS Chithra, the ‘Vanambadi’ of Kerala was conferred with Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award for her contribution to music. Musician and lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri was honoured with Padma Shri and the industry was celebrating it by honouring the two eminent musicians.

Tovino Thomas and Keerthy Suresh signed for ‘Vaashi’
National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh is collaborating with Mollywood’s young and charming actor Tovino Thomas for an upcoming Malayalam film titled ‘Vaashi’. Vishnu G Raghav will be directing the film, which is produced by G Suresh Kumar. Mohanlal has launched the title poster of the film and the movie buffs are eagerly waiting for the film.

‘Joseph’ fame Athmiya tied the knot with Sanoop
Actress Athmiya, who is best known for her performances in ‘Joseph’ and ‘Marconi Mathai’ entered wedlock on January 25. The actress tied the knot with Sanoop, a marine engineer in a low key ceremony held at Kannur. The wedding was attended by their immediate family and a few relatives and the newlyweds threw a party for their industry friends on the following day.

Mammootty resumes shooting after 10 months hiatus
Mammootty resumed shoots after a break of 10 months. The Megastar joined the sets of ‘One’ his upcoming political thriller and his arrival made headlines. Mammootty drove himself to the set in his black Range Rover and was looking stylish. His hairstyle and stylish avatar won the internet and the shoot is progressing.

Shraddha Srinath sent a quirky wish to newly married couple Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan and his longtime girlfriend fashion designer Natasha Dala tied the knot on January 24. Wishes were pouring in for the couple and Shraddha Srinath’s congratulatory message for the couple grabbed headlines. Shraddha took a dig at the society’s patriarchal mindset with her note. “Another good actor bites the dust. Sad that we will not see him on screen again. Obviously, his wife and in-laws will not be okay with him acting with other heroines. Maybe he will switch to doing male-oriented films? But how to balance personal life and work life ya. Tough. Will miss him. Congratulations though, Varun (sic),” the actress said in her post.
