Bhavana Menon is making her second innings in Malayalam cinema with ‘Ntikkakkakkoru Premandaarnnu’, which hits the big screens this Friday (Feb 24). The actress was away from M-Town for over five years, after the release of ‘Adam Joan’ released in 2017. Bhavana’s return to M-Town was indeed highly anticipated by the moviegoers. Her real name is Karthika Menon

Like many others, Bhavana is her stage name. Born Karthika Menon, she changed her name after entering movies. The beauty took the name Bhavana, as there were already many prominent actors in the name Karthika. Well, we have to agree, the name worked pretty well for her.

At 16 she made her acting debut

She was only 16, when she landed her first movie. Bhavana Menon made her debut in movies with the 2002 release ‘Nammal’. She essayed the role of Parimalam, and also had to go de-glam for the role. Bhavana once said, that she felt almost unrecognizable in the film, and people who knew her didn’t realize that it was her who played Parimalam!

Special mention at Kerala State Film Award for her debut role

Well, it's true that the teenage Bhavana wasn’t certainly happy about going de-glam, especially for her debut role. But her performance as Parimalam had substance. Bhavana Menon received a special mention for her performance at the Kerala State film awards. She has also won the award for second best actress for her role in the 2005 film ‘Daivanamathil’!

At five, Bhavana wanted to break a ‘hand’, quite literally!

Yes, you read it right! Bhavana Menon has always dreamt of becoming an actor. At the age of five, she happened to watch Amala's Malayalam film ‘Ente Suryaputhrikku’ directed by Fazil. Little Bhavana was amazed by Amala’s performance, and would imitate her standing in front of the mirror. She even wanted to jump off a building and break her hand, as Amala’s character did in the film. Well, her parents couldn’t afford to break a hand, so instead, they wrapped a bandage around her arm and pretended like its broken!
