Dulquer Salmaan starrer ‘King of Kotha’ is heading to the big screens tomorrow (Aug. 24). Touted to be a gangster drama, ‘King of Kotha’ is mounted on a massive budget. Starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role, ‘King of Kotha’ is helmed by debutant Abhilash Joshiy, the son of veteran filmmaker Joshiy. The film has an ensemble cast of Aishwarya Lekshmi, Dancing Rose Shabeer, Gokul Suresh, Prasanna, Nyla Usha, and Chemban Vinod, among others. Dulquer Salmaan plays the protagonist in the film. Actress Aishwarya Lekshmi has been roped in to play the leading lady named Tara in the film. Gangster drama

‘King of Kotha’ is touted to be a gangster drama. Speaking about the film earlier, Dulquer Salman said, "I don't usually do this type of genre or even characters. So it is very new for me. I have dubbed it myself in all four languages. I think it's very important that I do it, and that effort is always worth it. It's a friendship film. ‘King of Kotha’ has love, emotions, and a bit of comedy. The film also has great music, so I'm hoping that it would appeal to audiences across the country." Set in the 1990s in a fictional town named Kotha, the film revolves around Raju, a notorious gangster who returns to Kotha. The film is also high on action.

A tale of revenge and redemption

‘King of Kotha’ has quite an intriguing plot. The film is set in Kotha, which is ruled by the town’s notorious criminal, Kannan Bhai. A righteous circle inspector lands in the town in hopes of making it clean, but instead of wiping off Kannan and his criminal activities, the cop gets humiliated. To seek revenge, he brings back Raju, who was the most notorious criminal in Kotha and also had a fallout with Kannan. The narrative promises twists, turns, and unexpected revelations that will keep you on the edge of your seat. ‘King of Kotha’ travels through the vengeance, angst, grief, mirth, and bloodshed of this gang.

​A spectacular theatrical experience

‘King of Kotha’, according to its lead actor, Dulquer Salmaan, offers the spectacle. "I think now, if you want to draw people to the theaters, you have to offer a theatrical experience. There has to be some kind of spectacle. People need that value for their money. They need entertainment on a larger scale," Dulquer Salmaan recently said, while confirming that ‘King of Kotha would be best enjoyed on the big screens.
