Sunil Grover to play the protagonist in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Chhuriyaan’

After leaving the audience in splits with his successful stints on television, Sunil Grover looks firmly set to make his big splash on to Bollywood. The ace comedian has been roped in to play the male lead in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming comedy-drama, ‘Chhuriyaan’. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra of ‘Dangal’ fame and Radhika Madan, who became a household name with Ekta Kapoor’s soap ‘Mere Aashiqui Tumse Hi’. Vijay Raaz has also been brought on board to play the female leads’ father.

Vishal reportedly said that he is very happy to have Sunil and Vijay as the two unconventional male leads of his film, and Sunil plays a crucial and major part. ‘Chhuriyaan’ is set to roll in the village of Raunsi by the month-end.

Sunil Grover to Krushna Abhishek: Popular TV comedians who have worked in Bollywood films

One genre of entertainment that is evergreen in all forms of cinema, as well as TV, is comedy. In terms of comic actors, India is definitely gifted, with a great number of incredible comedians attaining the spotlight on TV. However, there are only a few in that list who really made it big and were successful in creating a brand for them. These few gifted comedians attained so much popularity that they managed to get big breaks in Bollywood. Here are few such famous comedic artists.
3/7

Kapil Sharma

This man needs no introduction as he is one of the most prominent names in comedy in India. Kapil first attained some spotlight when he participated in ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 3’ in 2007 and went on to win the show. But his crowning glory was ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’, which he started in 2013 and went on till 2016, which eventually earned him a movie. His first big break in Bollywood was in 2015, where he starred in a comedy film titled ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’. Kapil will be next seen in the action comedy film ‘Firangi’, which is in progress.

Sunil Grover

Although it was the comedy show with Kapil Sharma that earned him maximum accolades, Sunil Grover is no stranger to the world of films. He made his Bollywood debut way back in 1998 with ‘Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha’ as a character role and went on to do small roles in many big films such as Ajay Devgn’s ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’, ‘Ghajini’, ‘Heropanti’, ‘Gabbar Is Back’ and ‘Baaghi’. With no lack of work in both TV and films, Sunil is on his way to new heights. He currently has his own comedy show which he founded after his spat with Kapil.

Krushna Abhishek

Krushna started out his career in TV in 1996 with ‘Just Mohabbat’. He made his film debut in 2002 with ‘Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat Hai’ and went on to do several small budget films in Hindi, Bhojpuri, Marathi and one even in Tamil. However, his first appearance in a proper big budget Bollywood film was ‘Bol Bachchan’ in 2012. He was also a part of Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Entertainment’ and was last seen in ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum 3’ in 2016. Other than films, he has a long history in TV shows that spans from comedy to dance reality shows. Krushna Abhishek is the perfect example of a jack of all trades.

Raju Srivastav

This famous name is also no stranger when it comes to Bollywood. Although he earned fame mostly through stage shows and competitions, Raju has been part of Hindi films in some capacity for a long time now. He started out as an extra in the 1988 hit film ‘Tezaab’. He also played a minor role in Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic film ‘Baazigar’. Over the years, he has done films like ‘Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa’ and ‘Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon’. Raju will be returning to the silver screen after seven years with the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’.
7/7

Ali Asgar

Ali Asgar is a pretty big name in the world of television. He was even a part of a famous British show. However, his stint in Bollywood has been long but not very rewarding. He made his debut in Hindi cinema with the 1991 Indian Soviet film ‘Shikari’. Ali went on to be a part of a few big films in the 90s such as ‘Khalnayak’,’ Chamatkar’ and ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’. However, offers of Bollywood movies dried out after early 2000, his last notable film being the Salman Khan starrer ‘Partner’. But, everything said and done, Ali Asgar is famous irrespective of films and hopefully, we will see more of him on the silver screen.
