Ganesh Chaturthi: Salman Khan's Ganpati festival pictures over the years

Salman Khan is one of the biggest superstars Bollywood has at the moment. ‘Bhai’ as he is fondly called is known for his Eid celebrations and releasing a movie on the Islamic holiday. However, Salman is also a fan of another festival, which is Ganesh Chaturthi. Sallu Bhai and his entire family are devotees of Lord Ganesha and ensure to take part in the yearly festivities of Ganesh Chaturthi. Here are a few such clicks of the ‘Tubelight’ actor over the years as he celebrated the festival will gusto.

Paying his respects to Lalbagh Cha Raja

One of the most famous Ganpati pandals in Mumbai is undoubtedly Lalbagh Cha Raja. Many celebrities visit the famous Ganesha idol every year and Salman Khan is no exception. This click was taken in the year 2007 when the actor went to the famous pandal to pay his respects to Lord Ganesha. With his eyes full of reverence and his hands folded in respect, Salman looks as devout as any other devotee. In fact, the actor had claimed at one point that he is half Muslim and half Hindu and nothing proves that statement as much as this picture.

Attending festivities with mother Salma and Helen

Salman Khan has always held a special place in his heart for Ganesh Chaturthi. This was evident in a song ‘Jalwa’ in his 2009 action film ‘Wanted’. He also attended the festivities without fail as always. This picture which was taken back in 2008, marked a time when Salman was shooting for the film and can be seen in his ‘Wanted’ avatar with his slicked back hair. Joining him was mother Salma Khan and stepmother, Helen. This picture proves again how the actor is a devout Ganesha follower.

Playing host to Lord Ganesha

In the year 2013, the Khans bought Lord Ganesha straight to their home. Salman Khan and his family set up a pandal right at their home, Galaxy Apartments in Bandra. In this picture, the superstar can be seen with his sister Arpita Khan Sharma and his stepmother, Helen. The actor can be seen performing an aarti for his favourite deity with fervor. With an inclusive mindset like Salman’s, it is no wonder that so many people are hardcore fans of the superstar.

Dancing his heart out during Visarjan

The year 2015 again saw the Khans playing host to Lord Ganesha. However, this time they chose an eco-friendly idol and made chocolate modaks, thus adding a little twist to their celebrations. This picture that was taken during the last day of Ganesh Chaturthi, shows Salman Khan dancing with gusto to the beat of drums. The joy on the actor’s face is evident as he dances his heart out while carrying the Ganesha idol for Visarjan. This festival holds a special place in every Mumbaikar’s heart and Sallu bhai, being a true Mumbaikar indulges in it wholeheartedly.

Conducting an aarti for Lord Ganesha

Salman had to give the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities of 2016 a miss as he was shooting for ‘Tubelight’ in Manali. However, he did have a low key celebration with the hotel staff there. Meanwhile, it made his 2015 celebrations that much special because it was the last time he celebrated the festival with his family. In this picture from the 2015 ceremony, the actor can be seen conducting an aarti for Lord Ganesha. Overall, it can be concluded that no Ganesh Chaturthi is truly complete without the Khans indulging in the ceremony. Hopefully, the actor will be a part of his family’s celebrations, unlike last year.
