Rangoli Chandel to KRK: Celebs whose Twitter account was suspended

Social media has emerged as a popular platform to connect celebrities and fans; however it comes with its own list of cons. Apart from interacting with followers, Bollywood celebrities often use this medium to express their views, which may not go down well with many, leading to the account being suspended. While recently Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel’s Twitter account faced suspension, here’s taking a look at other such incidents of the past.

Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel speaks her mind on social media and that’s what landed her in controversy last week. She has reportedly posted controversial tweets about stone pelting incident, leadind to Bollywood celebrities like Farah Khan Ali and Reema Kagti reporting her account and eventually Twitter suspended her social media profile. Reacting to it Rangoli had slammed the platform and stated, "Twitter is an American platform absolutely biased and anti India, you can make fun of Hindu Gods call Prime Minister and Home Minister terrorists but if you say anything about people pelting stones on health workers and Police forces they suspend your account, I have no desire of empowering any such platforms with my perspective and honest opinions, so I am not reviving my account, I was my sisters spokes person now watch out for her direct interviews, she is a huge star she has many ways of reaching out , a biased platform can be easily avoided." Kangana Ranaut came out in support of her sister and insisted that she “has done nothing wrong”.

In May 2019, Abhijeet Bhattacharya’s verified Twitter account was suspended over offensive posts. His reportedly tweeted sexist and offensive remarks against women and had targeted a female JNU student-activist. However, according to IANS he later returned to the micro-blogging site with a new handle. Abhijeet Bhattacharya is currently active on Instagram and has a verified account on the photo sharing site.

Kamaal Rashid Khan is known for his controversial tweets and in 2017 Twitter had suspended his account. Famous as KRK, his account was reportedly suspended because he had revealed the climax of a film on social media. The 'Deshdrohi' actor had also issued a statement, asking Twitter to restore his account. After a while KRK was back on Twitter and received a hilarious welcome from biggies like Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan. “The irrepressible @Kamaalrkhan .. straight talking , without any frills is BACK .. !! Fasten Seat Belts,” shared Big B, while Abhishek wrote, “He's back. Don't say I didn't warn you.”

In 2017, Hollywood actress Rose McGowan's Twitter account was suspended. Account to PTI, Twitter had revoked the ‘Screamed’ actor's page for flouting rules after she posted a series of tweets accusing actor Ben Affleck of lying about Harvey Weinstein's history of sexual misconduct. Twitter had reportedly suspended her account for 12 hours, stating that it had suspended the account because it included a private phone number.
