From ‘Border 2’, ‘Ramayana’ to ‘Jailer 2’: 5 Indian movies set to dominate 2026

‘Border 2’

The follow-up to the cult classic of 1997, 'Border 2' is set to be a powerful ode to Indian soldiers still packed with action. Directed by Anurag Singh, 'Border 2' stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa and Mona Singh. The film is slated for release on January 22, 2026, in time for the Republic Day Weekend.

‘Ramayana’

For 'Ramayana,' directed by Nitesh Tiwari, it promises to be a spectacular visual and mythological treat for audiences across the globe. For the titular role of Lord Rama is Ranbir Kapoor, while Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash plays Ravana, Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman, and Sunny Deol plays Hanuman. The first of a two-part project, the film is slated for release on Diwali, 2026.

‘Jana Nayagan’

Tamil political action thriller ‘Jana Nayagan’, starring Vijay and directed by H. Vinoth, is also starring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and Priyamani. The movie will be released on January 9, 2026, and serves as Vijay's last film before he enters politics.

‘Jailer 2’

The action-comedy sequel 'Jailer 2' to the 2023 hit of the same name, will feature Rajinikanth along the such co-stars as Mithun Chakraborty, SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Yogi Babu, and Shiva Rajkumar. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and hitting theaters June 12, 2026.

‘Toxic’

The film 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups' has Yash on what would be his next film 'KGF Chapter 2'. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the stylish period gangster movie will have the co-stars. Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair are also starring. The film will be released on March 19, 2026 around Eid.
