Sustainability doesn’t always have to be about big changes: Sean Banerjee
For many, sustainability is associated with large-scale environmental initiatives. But actor Sean Banerjee feels the movement truly begins at home, through small habits that are easy to adopt and even easier to pass on. This World Environment Day, Sean shares how simple lifestyle choices have helped him become more mindful about reducing waste and encouraging those around him to do the same. “Sustainability should be practiced from a young age, and it's far more effective to lead by example than to preach,” says Sean. The actor shares that one of the easiest ways he tries to reduce waste is by reusing items that would otherwise be discarded. “One simple habit I follow is reusing the paper bags that come with quick-commerce deliveries. Instead of discarding them, I use them to wrap gifts. My six-year-old nephew sees me doing this and naturally gets inspired to do the same. That's how awareness grows, through everyday actions and mindful choices,” he says. Another conscious change he has made is switching to refillable pens. “Since I write and journal a lot, I use pens regularly. Earlier, like many others, I would simply replace a pen when the ink ran out. But now I make an effort to use refillable pens because it reduces unnecessary waste,” he shares. Summing up his philosophy, Sean says, “Sustainability doesn't always have to be about big changes; sometimes it's about adopting simple, thoughtful habits and making better use of what we already have.”
