Votes are being counted across four state assemblies, with early leads pointing to competitive races in Assam, West Bengal, Puducherry, and Kerala. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 seats and leading in 69 more. That tally already crosses the majority mark. The Congress-led combine is trailing with a tally of 22, all of them leads with no seats formally declared. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7 in Assam. In West Bengal, the majority mark stands at 148 in a 294-seat assembly. BJP leads the count with a tally of 179, comprising 11 won seats and leads in 168 constituencies, crossing the majority threshold on current numbers. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, made up of 2 won seats and leads in 104. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in West Bengal.
