Vignan University to launch Google AI lab on June 3

Guntur: Vignan University at Vadlamudi will inaugurate a state-of-the-art Google AI Lab on June 3 in collaboration with Google Cloud, in a move aimed at strengthening industry-oriented technology education. The facility is expected to offer students hands-on exposure to advanced artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.Calling it a transformative step, Vignan Educational Institutions vice-chairman and MP Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu said the lab would connect students to globally benchmarked technologies and industry practices, equipping them for the evolving digital economy. The centre is envisioned as a hub for innovation, research, entrepreneurship and skill development.“This initiative aligns with Vignan’s vision of building a future-ready workforce capable of leading innovation-driven enterprises and startups,” he said.Vice-chancellor Prof KV Krishna Kishore said the lab will provide practical training in AI, machine learning, cloud computing and data analytics, helping students gain industry-ready skills. Senior Google Cloud executives, including Ashish Wattal and Vaibhav Kumar, are expected to attend the inauguration.
Under the collaboration, students will gain access to Google’s AI ecosystem, including tools such as Gemini and NotebookLM. The programme will feature hackathons, mentorship, project-based learning and exposure to real-world challenges, along with access to Google Digital Campus, Skills Boost modules, internships and career opportunities.“The university will also offer globally recognised Google Cloud certification programmes, including security, data analytics, cloud computing, engineering, Gen AI skill badge, digital leader, and associate cloud engineer certifications, aimed at improving employability,” the V-C said.
