CREDAI seeks simplified registration for large housing projects under CARD 2.0

Visakhapatnam: The CREDAI Visakhapatnam has urged the stamps and registration department to introduce a project ID-based framework under CARD 2.0 to streamline the registration process for gated communities and large residential projects.In a representation submitted to the deputy inspector general of the stamps and registration department, the association appreciated the implementation of CARD 2.0, stating that the initiative had strengthened digital governance, transparency, and public service delivery.The association, however, pointed out that the existing process of generating check slips before registration was taking up considerable time, particularly in large residential projects where the process could extend beyond 90 minutes.According to CREDAI, the repeated entry of project-related information for every individual unit, including ownership details, OTP verifications and uploading of link documents, was resulting in operational delays and unnecessary duplication of work.CREDAI Visakhapatnam president E Ashok Kumar said the proposed framework would simplify the registration workflow for large-scale developments and improve overall system efficiency. “CARD 2.0 is a significant step towards modernising registration services. The introduction of a centralised project ID system would help reduce repetitive procedures and facilitate faster processing of registrations,” he said.Under the proposal, each project would be assigned a unique project ID after registration of the master project data. The ID could subsequently be used for all unit-wise registrations within the same development.The proposed framework includes permanent storage of landowner and GPA holder details for auto-population in future transactions, single-time OTP verification for authorised signatories, centralised storage of verified link documents, and automatic retrieval of project data to reduce manual entry.Ashok Kumar said the system was expected to substantially reduce check slip generation time, improve data accuracy and enhance operational efficiency for applicants, developers and departmental officials.The association requested the department to consider incorporating the proposal as part of future enhancements to CARD 2.0, stating that the move would contribute towards faster and more citizen-friendly registration services.
