Trichy: Trichy railway division observed the International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) - 2026 on Tuesday through safety awareness programmes at various level crossing gates and stations across the division. Events educated road users on safe practices at level crossings to prevent accidents and enhance public safety.Balak Ram Negi, divisional railway manager flagged off a rally from Trichy junction to the Central bus terminus. and distributed pamphlets to the public along with the members of the Bharat scouts and guides, trainees of the multi-disciplinary zonal training institute, divisional traffic training school and Railway Protection Force (RPF).A street play was performed near the Central bus terminus, on the theme of Do’s and Don’ts to be followed when a level crossing (LC) gate is closed. A mobile safety publicity vehicle equipped with international level crossing awareness messages, displays, and a public announcement system was deployed too.Street plays were conducted at LC gates 13, 16, and 20 between Saliyamangalam and Needamangalam, LC gates 273, 274, 274A, and 285 between Thanjavur and Kumbakonam.S Renganathan, divisional safety officer, along with the safety team and RPF personnel, distributed pamphlets to road users at the LC gates.
